Is the ultrstar 8tb drive warrantied by western digital and for how long?

Yes and no. Technically they have a five year warranty, but the drive you receive from a marketplace seller may be OEM or gray market, and not eligible for WD warranty, only reseller warranty.

Does the 14tb drive have the power disable feature?

This is advertised as the WUH721414ALE6L4 which does NOT have the power disable. *HOWEVER* I ordered 6 of these and they are all the 604 meaning they DO have power disable. I had to cut a wire on my power connectors (closest to the L shape) to use these drives. **NOT AS ADVERTISED**

Can wd ultrastar be used in thinkstation. i heard hgst enterprise drive is incompatible for home desktop, and need to fix the 3.3v pin problem

Look at the model number. If the next-to-last character is L, you're fine without an adapter; if it's 0, you'll need one. However, just because you can make the drive work in a desktop doesn't make it the best choice for that application. These are datacenter devices, optimized for datacenter operation, and somewhat noisier than desktop drives. If you do still want this particular drive, I wouldn't buy it from Amazon. All the buying options are through marketplace sellers, and you're likely to get an OEM or gray-market drive with no guarantee of a specific model number and no WD warranty (you have to contact the reseller if you have a warranty issue). B&H sells the same drive in sealed retail packaging at competitive prices (slightly lower at the time of this writing).

These hard drives sound like hard drives.

Been using Hitachi drives for years, and these are just HGST drives being sold under the Western Digital name. Very, very robust drives. Actually use these as boot drives for most of my Linux systems, as the distro I use is so lightweight .... I get no appreciable benefit from an SSD. (aside from when I launch Steam and then try to restore my 3000+ tab Firefox session at the same time lol)Oh, and these drives sound absolutely fantastic. Takes me right back to the 90s.

Great drives at a good price...

Originally ordered the 10TB HDDs for my RAID6 NAS, but the vendor (Holistic Ave) didn't deliver, and I can only discourage any dealings with them.However, I then ordered the 12TB HDDs from Canada Direct, and they were FAST, they delivered on time, and the HDDs are fantastic. Really safe, reliable, and quick drives - have been using this series of HGST HDDs for years.

good drive

Bought this to put in my home made NAS along with some Toshiba drives. I had an issue getting them to work but in the end it was easily solvable as you need to use a molex to SATA power cable and everything runs fine. They are really quiet (compared to my other entermrise drives) and is running without any issues.
