GoPro HERO5 Black Waterproof Digital Action Camera w/ 4K HD Video & 12MP Photo (Renewed)

I bought this gopro before my month long trip to Europe and wanted to wait till after my trip to rate it. I was able to use it throughout my trip with no problems. I did buy a watercase although I am not sure that it is necessary but I was able to cliff jump, took it ziplinning and use the go pro to take other great videos and pictures. I recommend this product if you have an adventure planned.

I recently received my "Renewed" GoPro Hero 5 Black & am pretty impressed! It looked pretty much new. Not a scratch or any blemishes on it. It came with all of same accessories as any other GoPro.I've tested it & the video performance is awesome! The pictures are ok but it really shines with video. Everything is really responsive and seems to be well built.The battery life is blah. I don't know what normal battery life is like with these things but I'm getting a little over an hour use per battery recording at 4K. That's not great but still doesn't suck either. I picked up various accessories including three extra batteries with a multi battery charger.Overall I'm pretty pleased with it. I didn't pay an arm and a leg for it and the quality is really awesome after changing all of the settings. I found a professional videographer on YouTube who showed how to set it up like a pro & *BAM* it was ready to go!I would definitely recommend buying one of these "renewed" GoPro cameras. Just be certain to get it from Amazon and NOT from a third party. This way you know you're getting a quality product.

I didn't need the latest model and bought this used on eBay in 2020. The newest model is up to 11 I think. I had to get new batteries. The user interface is confusing compared to normal digital cameras and camcorders, so allow time to figure out the menus. I still can't remember which does what, so download instructions on your phone or tablet and carry with you. I had to buy a kit of all the holders for the camera, and bought the expensive suction cup holder from GoPro. WARNING - If you use a suction cup holder of any brand, also search for and find safety cords because too many commenters for the suction cup units LOST their cameras when used on a car fender, etc. Thus always make sure you have a safety cord tied to something. The visual image provided by the wide angle videos are quite good and they minimize jiggle the you are riding on a bike, etc. The worst problem is the convoluted double screens, multiple buttons and sliding actions that you have to learn. So allow time for that or you will get frustrated. For instance, right now, I found I did not know how to make an image ZOOM in. I tried "squeeze" moves like on my phone, but they dont' work, so I will have to research how to do that. They also use a crappy proprietary bracket system that is confusing and you have to have a degree in mechanical engineering to figure how to use some mounts. DON'T ever lose or mismatch screws from one bracket with others. Some are longer or shaped differently and it is not always apparent. But the video quality is worth it for situations where you need an action cam when a normal camcorder won't do as well. I also find that trying to transfer videos by cable is REALLY SLOW, so I have to take more time to remove the tiny USB chip and insert it into a reader and read the files that way.

The packaging was good quality and the camera appears like new. No scratches or any cosmetic imperfections at all. The camera also appears to work like new as well. Saved big $$ vs the new Hero7. Would recommend if you don’t need the “latest and greatest” technology and can be happy with electronics that are two years “old”. I’ll be using it while snorkeling while on our upcoming vacation. I’ve already dunked it in our pool and it works great!

Mine has no scratches or damage

I used this camera indoors for almost a year. No problems. I actually like it. Now for the first time I took it out to the pool and within 4 seconds underwater the SD card failed and there is water inside the unit. Even after careful drying, there are several problems, the main one being the touch screen does not work at all. Without a touch screen the camera is basically useless. It's after the warranty window so I am left with a useless piece of electronics. Advice - test the unit completely including in water before the warranty expires. Caveat emptor.

Camera I recieved is basically like new without retail packaging, no scratches or signs of use. Happy with the unit recieved. However, battery seems to lose power more quickly than I’d expect, not sure if it’s because it is a ‘renewed’ unit or just expected for this gopro model. Not too big of an issue, new batteries are not expensive so I’m deciding to keep it. Overall GoPro 5 is a great camera with great picture quality. I considered GoPro 7, but for my use situations this GP5 is excellent and does exactly what I need, and at 1/2 the price.

I already had one GoPro Hero 5 and love it. Problem, I was the only one with a camera in my paddling group. Saw this refurbished unit on line for a good price and I trust Amazon to take good care of me if things go sideways. I was not disappointed. The camera says refurbished but I can't tell the difference from a new out of the box. All functions are perfect. If I see another bargain unit out there I'll most likely snag it.
