IS the shoulder strap removable or not? The description says it is but some reviews say it is not.

The shoulder strap is not removable! However, it snugs easily to the briefcase!

It is not waterproof only water resistant.

How many compartments this bag has and what size are they?

The Solo 17.3" Laptop bag is a very sturdy bag. Besides the carrying strap, there is a strap on the back to attach to rolling luggage handles. There are two (exterior) pockets on the front. The first is a flat pocket @ 14" long x 6" high, good for holding envelopes & folded papers, etc. Behind this pocket is a flat pocket @ 14" long x 9.5" high with pouch-type pockets inside good for pens, note pads, etc. There is a single (interior) pouch pocket in the laptop compartment which is the full width & height of the bag, about 2" deep.

What does TSA friendly mean ?

TSA expects the laptop to be isolated by itself when it is put through the scanner. So, if the bag can fold in half and the laptop is alone in one half, then you are compliant with TSA. Some TSA agents aren't aware of this and may ask you to take it out. I have said to a few agents that this is TSA compliant, it is by itself, and typically another agent reaffirms my statement.
