Works great for making corned beef and beef jerky.
I have been using Morton Tender quick for many years. It works great for making homemade corned beef and beef jerky. It is an old timey preservative. Hard to find in the grocery stores.

Easy way to make your own corned beef
Morton Tender Quick is the easiest way to corn your own brisket. Just follow instructions on the bag for how much water and curing salt. Just be careful not to over cure (too much salt or too much time). You can speed up the time it takes to cure the center of the brisket by puncturing the roast with a roasting fork inch spacing. This too can lead to over salting, it will take practice and patience.A few tips here: pickling spices can be added during the curing process (I use 1 tbs spices sliced garlic in a 1 or 2 gallon slider bag in a bowl and refrigerate at least two days - flip every 6-8 hours)Cooking corn beef should be low and slow. Figure on about 6 hours in crockpot or 300 F oven.
