Q: How well does this perform with poop?

In what capacity? I use dog poop bags to pick any out of the litter tray (put my hand in the bag, grap the poop and pull the handles over my hand so it's inside out with the poop inside it.) I guess if a cat has runny poop it'll just soak up the wetness as it does with wee. Not quite understanding what you expect the litter to do when there's poo involved?

I don't know what you mean by special, but it is just wood pellets. As it gets used, the wood pellets go like sawdust. I have an enclosed cat litter box and my cat still manages to kick it out of the flap!
