Dog will now go up stairs. Easy to install.
I waited a few weeks to write a review. I wanted to see how these would work.Fantastic! My big dog suddenly refused to go up the wooden stairs. She must have slipped once, and that was it. She's too big to carry.I put these down on each stair close to the front edge (stair nose.) She still didn't like it. I cut some in half longways and stuck it down in back of the other ones so it would cover the entire stair. I had to urge her up with a towel under her middle. Three times, and that was it! Now she goes up and down with no problem. Thank goodness ! No more crying at the bottom stair.I like that they are clear. The stairs are oak and I can hardly see the difference. I can sweep the stairs. Dirt doesn't seem to stick there any more than anywhere else.Bonus: I don't slip on the stairs, even in socks.Easy to cut with scissors. Easy to carefully stick down. Has stayed secure for a few weeks so far.Good product!

The things we do for our dogs
I recently ripped out the builders grade carpet on my stairs and put down lovely hardwood. I love the look, but dang, they were slick. I have a 10 year lab mix who has mobility issues and he wasn't comfortable going up and down the new, slippery stairs. Honestly, I can't say I blame him, considering I'm pretty accident prone myself. So, to save both of us from a trip to the emergency room/vet, I ordered this product. I really didn't want to cover up my beautiful new stairs, but needs must.Installation was super easy. It took me about 45 minutes to an hour to install on all 14 stairs. That includes time to read the instructions, gather supplies, clean the stairs, figure out placement and actually do the install. I used a Swiffer to remove any dust and dog hair, then a vinegar solution to wipe down the stairs. Once they were complete dry, I peeled back a couple of inches from one side of the sticker, got everything lined up where it needed to be, and rolled down that edge. I peeled the backing off as I went, a few inches at a time. I kept just a tiny but of tension on the sticker to keep it straight and then rolled toward to working edge as I went. Don't roll from the working edge back toward the section that's already stuck down. That's how you get bubbles!Once the tread tape was down, I started with the roller from the center and worked my way out. I made sure to roll the edges really well, but they don't seem to be in any danger of fraying up.If you have real wood stair treads like me, you may have to roll a bit more on the "grainy" sections. The adhesive sticks very well, but there were spots where I could see the adhesive hasn't actually made full contact with the wood under it, because of the texture of the grain. If that happens, just use the edge of the roller to roll it into the grain. Once you do that, the product is barely noticable.Overall, I am very happy with how easy the product was to install, how it looks on the stairs and how it feels under my bare feet. My dogs seem to like it as well. Now, let's just hope it stands up well to daily traffic.

Effective and good looking
Similar to many stories, our dog had one too many slips going UP the stairs rather than down and became too scared to come up - even for dinner. Our first option was to carpet the stairs which we didn't want to do for aesthetic and cost reasons. A friend recommended these after she used them in her house. I don't know that I would have gone this route without the recommendation but I'm really glad we tried them out. Took a couple of hours to install because I was being perfectionist and had to cut them for certain turn. They are barely noticeable on our lovely stained treads. And, after only a few minutes we were able to convince the dog that going up and down the stairs was safe. They have stayed put well, are unobtrusive, and do their job. This is an excellent choice for those that do not want carpeting but need safety.

Great function, funky installation
We have very narrow and steep wooden stairs of which both humans and dogs of the household are wary to go up and down. I was going to place nonslip carpet strips on each step, but the dark wood used is so beautiful, it'd be a shame to cover it in an ugly rectangle of carpet. That brings me to this product, which I happily purchased. As someone who is impatient, doesn't like measure and wants results, this project was a little challenging. It wasn't time consuming by any means. In fact, it was very easy. You just peel and stick. However, unlike me, you should take some time to make sure everything lines up. Otherwise, it is very apparent that the strips don't line up from step-to-step as it is very visible. My one complaint is the little roller is absolutely useless. It's cheaply made and not weight in the middle, which means, when you roll it across the application, only the two ends apply enough pressure. That create two tracks across the plastic, rather than rolling out the plastic evenly. My first few steps were full of these tracks. I wish I started on the top steps rather than the bottom steps because these are the most visible from the front door and first floor. Ultimately, I scrapped the roller and just used my hands. Over time, I think the weight of our bodies walking up and down the stairs will eventually smooth it out.I also had to throw one strip away because the paper adhesive on the back came off in pieces rather than 1 sheet, and a piece of it flew back into the adhesive and got stuck. There was no way I could install that strip because now there's a visible piece of paper stuck to it. Fortunately, I needed 13 and there were 14 strips in the box.Once installed, I'm pleased with the function. No slip and falls here! I still see footprints in the plastic, but hopefully, over time, the weight applied will smooth everything down.
