Great Ultra-Wide Choice for DSLRs
The media could not be loaded. I love this lens. Its sharp and has a big aperture of f/2.8 which is great especially for night and astro photography. I especially got it for photographing night sky and landscapes as its an all round performer. Even though theres Canon's EFS 10-18mm mm lens available which is also very sharp (maybe even sharper than this and also offers image stabilization ) but that one isn't good for astrophotography work. So, I chose this lens.If you want to go for cheapest option for astrophotography, you could go for EFS 24 mm f/2.8 but that isnt an ultra-wide. So, I think if you need an ultra-wide lens for astro work, this is the most affordable option for Canon DSLRs which contains autofocus (for mirrorless cameras there are a bit cheaper options available).Rokinon 14 mm is also a very good and cheaper alternate for astrophotography but it wont be an all-round lens due to lack of autofocus. This lens is a best all rounder for this focal range and this price point. It is very sturdy and has smooth focus and zoom rings.I have attached some pictures and one timelapse I took with this lens. You could search my channel on youtube (you can search my timelapses with my full name + timelapse) to see more timelapses made using this lens.Theres also a new version available for this lens, you could go for that as well or for the 11-16 version.

Tokina is not the choice anymore...
Tried 3 replacements but not a single piece was perfect. First was failing in autofocusing and second two were giving prominent chromatic aberration
