About the Artist Many young acts are presented with recording contracts before life's experiences have given them the maturity necessary to maximize the shot. Drowning Pool, a quartet from Dallas, Texas, have walked the road of life as a band, built a substantial following through relentless touring, and have taken advantage of every moment as a chance to grow. All of the obstacles and challenges that have stared the band down have been confronted and ultimately converted into fuel to turn adversity into prosperity. They've learned the hard way, the easy way, and in every step taken. They've taken everything that has happened to them to become better, harder, and ultimately ready for the career that now is staring the band in the face. The story begins when drummer Mike Luce and guitarist C.J. Pierce moved from their hometown of New Orleans to Dallas in order to connect with friend and bassist Stevie Benton. "Mike and I were jamming together for about four years and we couldn't find the right people for the sound we were looking for," says guitarist Pierce. They began to build a following while playing around Dallas, and taking many excursions outside the city limits. The trio sensed that one crucial ingredient was missing, and that in order to truly emerge as a force to be reckoned with; they needed to find a true "frontman." While their shows were energetic and pounding, they knew that the missing link was a singer with a unique voice and an undeniable stage presence. Dave Williams, who had been singing in bands in Dallas for two years before crossing paths with Drowning Pool, was the man. Nicknamed "Stage" by "Dimebag" Darrell from PANTERA, he is a presence like none other. His sheer emotive power deliver! ed the sound and live electricity the band had been on the cusp of achieving for years. Now a quartet, the band coined themselves Drowning Pool when Stevie realized he had lost his virginity while the movie by the same name played in the background. They then recorded a demo, which soon wound up in the hands of the band SEVENDUST, and the bands hit the road together. Tours with bands such as KITTIE and HED (PE) followed and suddenly this unsigned Texas band was building a following on a national level. Comments drummer Mike Luce, "After being on the road with some of our favorite bands, and seeing how tight they were, we just had to step it up a notch. With Dave in the band, we could go out there every night and put on a sick-ass show and have a great time doing it. It doesn't matter who we share the stage with ultimately. We are going to deliver for the fans any day, any time." The band recorded a six-song demo that showcased the development that had come from two years on the road, and launched the band onto the radio where they shot into the top ten at the biggest station in Dallas (KEGL), and ultimately led to a deal with Wind-up Records. Producer Jay Baumgardner (PAPA ROACH, ORGY, COAL CHAMBER) took the band to Ocean Studios in Burbank to record their first full-length record. Baumgardner described those sessions: "With SINNER, Drowning Pool opens up a Texas size can of woop ass." Catch the band on the Ozzfest tour this summer, and in a town near you throughout the next year. Powerful, inspiring Rock spoken in a tongue the youth of America and The World will both relate to and understand. See more

You could look at it as a follow up EP to Sinner that we never got. Dave's full body of work with Drowning Pool in one package.
Sinner, the signature Drowning Pool first release featuring Dave 'The Stage' Williams and the iconic Bodies, has been re-released in this 13th(Unlucky) Anniversary Deluxe edition featuring never before released material with the late great singer.Dave Williams is by far one of my biggest 'What If?' scenarios. What if Dave Williams had not passed away, where would he and Drowning Pool be today? Some people say they would be at the top of the Metal spectrum and of course some people say they would have burnt out.I must say before continuing, I own every Drowning Pool album to date(2018) and look forward to their next album with Jasen Moreno(Best fit since Dave in my opinion). They have had their ups and downs over the years, but I feel Resilience(5th albums), first album featuring Jasen Moreno, really lit a fire back under them as well as their follow up Hellelujah(6th album), fantastic sophomore effort with Jasen Moreno, has shown how much Drowning Pool has grown over the years. I look forward to the next album and hopefully the first time a singer has appeared on three albums straight with DP.All that said, I do listen to Sinner and wonder sometimes what could have been had they been able to continue with Dave Williams at the helm. This deluxe anniversary release gives us a glimpse into some tracks they had started making for their follow up to Sinner. It also includes some rough demo's of already released Sinner songs. You can tell they dug as deep as they could into their recordings, as some of the tracks are pretty low quality recording. However it's commendable that Drowning Pool were dedicated to giving the fans as much as they could of their unreleased work with Dave Williams. All in all you get 6 unreleased tracks : You Made Me, Care Not, Mask, Soul, Less Than Zero and Heroes Sleeping. Apparently Heroes Sleeping was the one track that they thought was lost which fans really wanted and was the last song ever recorded with Dave. CJ explained they were discussing this with someone they knew and lo and behold, someone had recorded the track the one time it was played in full on tape. So the quality on Heroes Sleeping is a bit low, but it is an amazing song.CJ explained the lyrical content of Heroes Sleeping was to represent musicians who had died before them or who had died too young. He said it's emotional because the song was finished and played only weeks before Dave's own unexpected passing. There is a 7th track called Break You that was not on Sinner, but released on a Movie Soundtrack after the release of Sinner. It is one of my favorite tracks done by them during the Dave Williams era and I was very happy to see it included in this deluxe edition. You could look at it as a follow up EP to Sinner that we never got. Dave's full body of work with Drowning Pool in one package. It's not exactly a full second album, regarding the unreleased songs, and that may be where if you still own the original Sinner the price may be a bit steep. While the second disc is 13 tracks, a little less than half are early demo's of tracks already released on Sinner. While the demo's are cool to hear, as there are some changes between the demo's and final versions, most of the demo's are low quality.Still, to me, having access to 6 unreleased songs and 1 song released only on a soundtrack while also having Dave Williams Drowning Pool era all in one package was worth it to me. That was the deciding factor and I recommend it.Extra Info :The spotted editorial review from Amazon says that this is Remaster release for Sinner and some other sites list that as well, but I can't find an official statement that the album had been remastered. I mention this only because I own both the original Sinner album and this Anniversary edition, I played the tracks back to back, there was no audio difference I could tell between the Anniversary Sinner and original Sinner sound quality. Remaster typically implies they went back and improved the audio over the original release. However the original release quality is great anyways, but because of the editorial, I did personally think that this was a Remaster and as far as I can hear, if it is, very little has changed.

All Time Greatest Album
One of the best albums I had ever heard that got me into Metal and now in my collection of cds. This is a classic Heavy Metal record that you need to get and listen to all the time but also in my opinion is the greatest to have been done by Drowning Pool.🤘

Sinner Just Makes You Feel Goooood!!!!!!
What a great album! They have never made another one like it and probably never will. If you are going to buy this album I suggest you buy the deluxe edition. The reason isn't just every track off the album itself but its additional bunus content is well worth the purchase. If you are a die hard fan you absolutely cannot do without it. These demos sound awesome and some songs are actually extended versions that totally make you want to crank up the volume and have a headbanging great time no matter where you are! Buy it and ROCK OUT!!!!
