Well written and informative. This text (Guidelines for Auditing Process Safety Management Systems) builds off an earlier CCPS "guidlelines" text titled "Risked Based Process Safety" (2007). The technical experts and consultants assembled by AIChE CCPS to help develop and write the "Guidelines for PSM Systems" did an excellent job of presenting foundational PSM material and following that data up with specific Audit Criteria and Guidance to Auditors. With a focus on the 20 elements of Risk Based Process Safety, this text presents data relevant to most every aspect of a well run Process Safety and Risk Management program. It is an excellent source of basic Process Safety information for students of PSM, as well as an important source of that hard-to-find "detailed information" sought by seasoned PSM professionals. It is a must-have reference for Chemical Process Industry (CPI) engineers and experts interested in improving the programs and systems that manage their critical safety and utility systems which prevent the catatrophic release of hazardous materials or a sudden release of energy.

I have gotten pretty involved with PSM within my company. I have had an opportunity to audit with one of the contributors to this book and it was on his recommendation that I purchased the book. It matches our companies audit and this was a good investment. Glad I got it.

Lots of useful information but keep in mind this is to audit a PSM system not so much process safety effectiveness.
