This little machine is exactly what I was looking for! I wanted it to help cover up some outside noise, but also to create a pleasant and relaxing ambience in my space. It has nine sounds to choose from, which is great, and I like most of them. The sounds are very natural and make you feel like you're at the beach, or in some other nature setting. It is small and can fit anywhere, and you can turn the volume as high or low as you like. I'm very glad I got it, I use it every day!

Really helps with falling asleep and falling back asleep if temporarily awakened. I don't need to turn on lights to change things because the buttons can be FELT and are not recessed smooth on the device. KNOBS FOREVER!!!

This is a nice little white noise machine. Has several different sounds and two different musical preferences. The downside on it is you will need to get a usb plug adapter for it. It comes with only the usb, not the plug that actually goes into the wall. I got this for my kid because we had one in a hotel we stayed out and she loved it. We put this in her room and she plays it every night and has gone to sleep so much sounder and better. She likes the music setting. She also sometimes just chills in her room and listens to it. It's pretty cute since she is just barely turning 5. I like that it has a timer setting. That's really convenient since I don't have to go back in and shut it off. Great little machine. Would definitely purchase again.

Bought this to cover up noisy upstairs neighbor who likes to blast anime at 3 in the morning. Did not help. Mostly covers higher frequencies, but does nothing for bass end. Additionally, I find the noise quality tinny and jarring on its own.For the cheap price, it's worth considering. It just is not good enough to get the job done when over-the-top boss battles, boomy nefarious villain speeches, and screechy damsel soliloquy situations are going on at top volume 20 feet away from where you're trying to sleep.

This sound machine is nice. One of the sounds needs to be improved, other than that the others are good. I Thought it came with a power cord, but it didn't

I bought this sound machine in response to having spent a week in a cabin with a room air conditioner. I found the hum of the A/C seemed to help me sleep and thought I'd give a "white noise" machine a try. However, me being me, doesn't like to pay a ton for what is essentially an experiment. At about $20, The HoMedics product, which I've owned for about a month, looks great, offers six sounds, and works very well. What I like best is it offers three "white noise" sounds: white, pink, and brown. Each is lower in tonal quality so you can choose the one that best replicates what you enjoy hearing. It does not cover up my husband's snoring, but allows me to concentrate on a specific, unchanging sound while falling asleep, which somehow mitigates the sinus knocking going on next to me. I can't speak to how long it will last but I have become a "white noise" sound machine fan!

My biggest criticism of this product is the fact that the volume dial is also how the unit turns on. If there was a separate "on" button, the user could set the volume in advance. It is not a big issue for me, but I imagine many people would prefer a feature like that.I was hoping that holding the different sound buttons down for an extended period would turn the sound on and off, but the unit does not work that way.The USB powered feature was a nice bonus, but rechargeable batteries work great too. I'm currently using "Amazon Basics" batteries, and runtime has lasted many hours.Adding colors and textures to the buttons has made it easier to identify the different sound types (I prefer the "Brook" sound), as well as finding the controls in the dark.I'll update this review if there is anything to add.Update 2021 OCT 14: One of the devices started to fail to turn on. This was because something heavy fell on the volume dial. I was able to open up the unit (remove 4 bottom pads and use long slim Phillips head driver to remove 4 screws). The volume dial has a spring loaded disconnect underneath the rotary dial. By pressing up on the underside of the dial, I was able to flex the connector back into the proper alignment. It works just fine again.Update 2022 Dec 24: Two units are now showing problems. One will cut off after a very short time. It appears as if something is overheating inside. Another will have the volume raise and lower automatically. From "whisper quiet" to "loud conversation" levels. It's a shame that they worked so well in the beginning, because reliability seems to be an issue.Update 2023 Feb 19: All of the devices seem to have the same problem now. They will run for about 5 minutes and then turn off. I've tried lots of different things to fix them, but it's simply not worth the time anymore.
