Handy IR headset and transmitter
If you struggle to hear audio on the tv properly, then this simple set could be for you. I ordered this as I sometimes struggle, especially with various background noises in the house meaning I find it difficult to hear what's going on without subtitles. This simply plugs into the headphone socket of my TV and sits in front of it, transmitting, whilst the headphones receive the signal via IR and hey presto, I can hear what's going on. Don't get me wrong, any audiophile wouldn't be impressed with the quality but if you just want to watch and listen to your day to day tv without needing dolby sound, these do nicely.

lip sync poor
Sound quality is OK, but it is not in stereo, and there is poor synchronisation with lip movement.

Surprisingly decent
I have to say that when I saw these available for review I was very excited.I tend to use my Bluetooth headphones for watching TV on an evening when the kids are in bed, but you have to go into the settings to connect them, and then the battery dies or the connection gets lost - none of these issues are huge, but they can be annoying when the issues arise. So I saw that these can be connected to Optical output, and I know that if set to optical my TV will automatically stay on that mode when turned on again... all I'd need to do was turn these on and I'll be connected!! Fantastic. And that's exactly what happens... turn TV on, so long as Optical was the last mode used, it would still be there, I turn these headphones on, and I have sound.I had seen other reviews for these headphones whilst I was waiting for mine, and they indicated numerous issues with the quality of the sound... but honestly, I did not find any issues at all.Yes, the sound is not quite as full and surround as it might be with a pair of really decent headphones, but it's absolutely more than adequate for watching TV when you don't want to disturb others in the house. And there's a switch on the back for normal, bass, treble... so I just selected the bass and it really sounds fine. Even for playing games on my PS5 it was absolutely perfect for this. The big bonus is when my mum comes to stay, she's elderly and slightly hard of hearing... I can put my TV to optical and internal, and she can wear these and hear perfectly along with everyone else in the room. The only negative I found is that the weight of the device hanging below you. I haven't put the ear loops on yet, and don't know if that would alleviate that, but it's really not that much of an issue and I only need to use them for an hour or two on an evening. So yes - there are a few reviews with some negative comments, but either the product has improved or I'm just not as fussy I do not know. I found no issues with them and enjoy how much easier they have made my evening TV viewing.

Wonderful - can hear whole range of sound pitches clearly, easy and comfortable to use
I was keen to try the wireless TV headphones as I have hearing loss, as do 2 of our parents. The headphones can be used with a wide range of different types of TVs, with clear instructions given in the booklet. In our case it was extremely simple to set up, using the optical cable with our quite new digital TV, and is just a case of plugging it in and switching the base unit and headphones on! There are various connectors supplied with the unit, which my techy husband was very impressed about - I think it will work well with a wide range of different types of TV.I can hear a wide range of sounds very clearly whilst wearing the headphones, definitely more clearly than just listening to the TV, even with my hearing aids in (as hearing aids don't give the same level of hearing as fully functioning ears - altering the TV volume alone does not give the sound experience that a hearing person would have either, however loud it may seem to hearing people, because sound loss usually varies across different frequencies, so can be uncomfortably loud in some, too quiet in others, even with the sound turned up) - music, voices, both much more clear sound than usual, and fascinatingly I could hear background TV sounds such as doors opening & closing which I'd normally miss (unless told about them via subtitles). There's a button on the back of the charger for selecting between 3 different tone types. They are really easy to use too, with clearly labelled controls. I'd say that for some users and with sight loss it would be more helpful if things were larger, although if you can remember what's where then they can be located by touch. Testing out the range, I found that the headphones continued to work within the same room, into the doorways and slightly beyond but then didn't work, I think because there were by then walls in the way.The instructions are comprehensive and clear to follow. The headset is light weight and comfortable to wear. Although there are ear loops I haven't found those necessary as the set stays in place very easily without them. Some users may need to remove hearing aids whilst using the headphones as the sound relays directly into the ear canal (I have open domes and can use both together very easily and comfortably, with very clear sound). It's great if you need the TV louder than other family members, or even so as not to disturb the neighbours, yet without the impact on hearing that wearing headphones for long periods of time can have. There's also a button to press if you want to hear family members/surrounding sounds instead of the TV, or you could simply switch them off and on again. The balance dial enables you to adjust so that the sound is of equal volume in both ears, so could for example be balanced towards the side with greater hearing loss, or even completely to one side if the loss is unilateral. Charging is very simple too and there's room in the charging dock for up to 2 headphone sets at the same time, very useful for more than one user within the same household. So they're very useful for people with reduced hearing to be able to hear the TV more clearly, whether watching alone or with other people.
