Family fun
I got the Skillability game for my daughter-in-lawâs 8th birthday, and she had an absolute blast playing it! Itâs a fun and engaging game that brings everyone together. Itâs perfect for birthdays, holidays, or any kind of family get-together. We all had a great time playing it, and itâs become a new favorite for group activities. Definitely a great pick for creating laughs and memories with the whole family!

Mostly pretty fun
We got this because we have been playing a game called "I Got This!" which is very similar with physical challenges, and we love it, so we wanted some new gameplay and new challenges. Same idea, basically, you get a variety of tools and then there are cards that challenge you to do some task using the tools to earn points. The tasks range from "pretty much anyone could do this," to "this is impossible, literally no one could do this," and it becomes exasperated when the mask is brought into play. So some of the cards we just skip because everyone agrees they are too difficult, and we re-draw. The other small issue is the materials, not the greatest quality, and the chopsticks broke when we tried to separate them. We had our own, with square edges (required) so not a huge deal, but still, send them separate, or use better wood! Overall, a real fun family game, great for having some friends over, maybe some drinking, but even without partying everyone will have a great time with Skillability.

It was definitely worth the purchase
This actually made game night so much more interesting for some young adults. Everyone kept thinking they could do the challenge, which made it even funnier

Not the best
Interesting game, skill levels don't match, really easy tasks labled hard and hard tasks listed in easy catagory. Directions are not clear which may be intentional but make the game very confusing, some of this stems from instructions not written for the English language, poor syntax and strange sentence composition. Could be fun for the experienced, older, possibly drunk player.

Skillability by QUOKKA
The media could not be loaded. Skillability ended up being an entertaining addition to âkids-and-parentsâ game night as well as âa bunch of mid-30-year-olds drinking with board gamesâ game night. With quick challenges and a variety of skills accessible for most everyone, it was a game we could all pick up and play with no experience and finish without players disengaging or being completely bored. The rules are simple but encourage to be flexible to accommodate your experience. Pick cards, attempt tasks, score points over ten rounds, highest score is the winner.Watching your friends think creatively to solve a challenge or fall flat because of over- or under- thinking the task is quite hilarious. Itâs also cool to see how others accomplish tasks in ways you werenât expecting or didnât even consider.Depending on which category you choose, most challenges can be accomplished with creative problem solving, or brute force skill. The card also has a picture of the challenge to illustrate setup or what to do which can be helpful along with the point values for a successful completion of a challenge. However, some cards can be confusing, ridiculously hard, or sometimes impossible to set up. It was clear that they already had a functioning prototype but to market this, they needed more challenges. So someone likely sat at a computer thinking of all the props included and started typing random ideas of what you could do with them but not actually testing the challenge. This is where the flexibility of the rules came in handy as we created a rule to skip a card if it wasnât going to be fun or possible to do (some cases too messy: walk across the room without dropping a glass of water balanced on the back of your hand. Iâm not cleaning that up indoors!) Thankfully this scenario didnât happen too frequently. The game took 45 minutes and there were a lot of laughs along the way.The best thing about this game is that it will be interesting for all ages as the accessibility of the simple props and actions allow anyone to have the ability to accomplish challenges. Quite a few tasks likely would be too difficult for very young children, but my 9-year old nephew was able to play. You can always just fish out the cards that wonât work for the little ones.It is quite fun and produces funny moments, but we were all in agreement that one game was enough on game night before moving to the next game. Some cards were duds and some tasks were way too easy/hard. But overall it was still enjoyable that resulted in fun for all ages.
