Freaking awesome. Most versatility of any in this class.
I leave it in the shower most of the time. It is absolutely waterproof for that application, so long as the rubber cover is replaced and kinda patted down into the groove.. Long battery life, good sound quality and volume. It feels like a high quality item like you might get from clarion or Bose back in the 2000s. Charges with a USB-C fairly quickly. The bluetooth is seemless and it reports its battery life when you connect to it with a mobile device (batt status is on your BT connections). I like that I can plug a patch cable into it to serve as a speaker for items without BT- so excellent for HAM radio applications. The square carabiner works well for the size. Like most BT devices, you can pause/play and volume from the speaker, as well as control phone calls. Yes, it has a mic built in that works well. The passive radiator is opposite the driven speaker and still has pretty good sound from the back of the unit, although the front side with the speaker has more fidelity in the mid and high range. BT range is about 30 or 40 feet from my phone in most cases. It can also serve as a FM receiver if you press a certain combination of buttons, although it doesn't excell at it.

Great speaker for Kayaking on the lake
I decided I wanted a Bluetooth speaker for lake Kayaking this summer. My criteria were:1. waterproof (not just spash-proof) in case it gets dunked and can float if possible2. has a way to secure to my life jacket or to my Kayak3. micro TF card playback4. decent battery life for a few hours on the lake (they say this one has 15 hours)When I found this speaker I had looked at many on Amazon and my local BestBuy.I was please to see that this one met my criteria and then some. Even more please to see the price.IIPX7 waterproofFM radio is a bonusHands Free Calls (will allow me to take a call if needed without pulling my phone out of the Kayak storage well.TWS function - pairing two speakers togetherTurns itself off after some set time if not being used (this keeps the battery from draining)Blue Color - matches my KayakI was pleasantly surprised to find that it is built solid. The grills do not flex and seem solid. They are screwed in with Torx screws. The rubber surround has a very good feel. I like the carabiner clip and that the overall speaker size is small. (Photo is to show the size as it compares to a soda can) This will let me secure it to my life jacket or to a bungee on the Kayak.Paring was super easy with my iPhone 7. Turned the speaker on with the center button. Turned on Bluetooth on my phone and it came right up and paired. Since then it has auto-paired just by turned on the speaker. Also the paring prompt is easy on the ears and not annoying like some speakers. How does it sound? Well its not a $175 Bose like my daughter has so don't expect that. It won't hit those deep base notes. But it is clear and does not distort at higher volume. It it not a tinny sound either. Much better than trying to listen just with the iPhone speaker. I showed it to my daughter and she said that's cool and was impressed with the sound especially for the price and that its waterproof. Looking through the grill it appears it has a small speaker in the front and maybe a larger passive radiator in the back. Listing to Boomin' from Toby Mac while I type this and it actually has base and sounds good.Controls are easy to get the hang of. Hold the + or - volume buttons for 2 seconds and you can back up or advance tracks. To answer a call just press the power button (they call it the Compound key) one time.FM radio is a scan for station type. Make sure you follow the section titled "FM Radio Speaker" on the Amazon page to Scan for stations (#9 on the instruction sheet). I was about to give up until I followed this and it found all the clear stations. Before that it sounded like the teacher on Charlie Brown.I have been using it while working in the garage and I can hear it just fine. One trick is to put it in a bucket or close to a wall to help reflect the sound.I am very happy with this speaker and will be recommending it to my friends. If they keep the price down around $20 they will sell a ton of these.

A very good value for money
I've been using these BT525 speakers with my OnePlus 6T for several weeks now. These are nice speakers for the money IMO: good sound quality (with proper volume level for the content), combined with good utility (water resistance, portability w/carabiner).The top 10-12 volume steps have increasing distortion depending on how intense and deep the signal is, such as a deep voice at a proper recording level. As long as the volume level is properly adjusted to avoid distortion, the sound quality is quite good, especially for the price. I was a major skeptic of the Bluetooth speaker craze early on, and I must say: I'm really blown away by the quality levels I've found in the BT speakers that I've had so far. These speakers are definitely performing better than I expected, they are plenty loud and clear / full for their size. The distortion at the highest volume levels could be seen as a negative, but you can avoid that issue by lowering the volume. Viewing this as a positive: when you are listening to something with too low of a recording level which might otherwise be hard to hear, the top volume levels are very useful to boost up those quiet recordings. I use this speaker with my smartphone of course, mostly with YouTube, and it's definitely useful to have the overblown volume levelsat the top to compensate for the many YouTube videos with recording levels which are just far too low, and you run into a lot of them on YouTube.I actually have both this newer version of the BT525, as well as the previous version, and they both pair up together in stereo mode nicely. I like to pair them up in stereo mode and perch them up at the back of my shower to have loud and clear audio while I'm washing up, despite the intense noise of the water flow in the shower. In addition to the water resistance for shower use, another reason I chose to buy these speakers is for use on the go, by making use of the carabiner. I like hooking the speaker up to a belt loop with the carabiner when I'm out walking my dog, and that works nicely, and is comfortable. I also enjoy making use of the stereo pairing mode by placing the speakers far apart from each other to get a strong stereo effect, filling the room.My only complaint with these speakers is the lack of aptX support, but that is perhaps a bit unfair because it is a rare feature indeed. As I'm writing this at the end of 2019, I lament that in order to maintain video lip sync on Android devices, aptX support is still a must have feature, for shame Android! Both aptX low latency and aptX HD have incredibly low latency, enough to compensate for the (typically) atrociously high audio latency present in the Android software stack.AFAIK, Apple products have always had the necessary software functionality to automatically delay the video frames until they sync up with the naturally high latency Bluetooth audio. It's too bad that the newest Bluetooth audio standards have been unable to match the low latency audio of aptX. However, at close range, the lip sync issue with these speakers when used with my OnePlus 6T is fairly minimal, thanks to the OP6T's low latency audio relative to many other popular Android devices. The video lip sync issue with non-aptX BT speakers was always far, far worse with my Samsung phones in the past, so your mileage here will vary depending on your specific device.I didn't tempt fate by stress testing the water resistance of these speakers, nor attempt to use the kludgy FM radio feature in this blue colored 2019 version of the BT525. For me, the portability and water resistance are the most important features of these speakers, which thankfully have decent audio quality, as well as ample loudness for their size.I feel like this 2019 version of the BT525 in blue has ever so slightly less sound quality as compared to the previous version in black that I have. It seems like the 2019 version sounds slightly less full, but maybe that's only because it needs a slightly higher volume setting than the previous version, perhaps due to the volume scale being adjusted in the updated firmware. From what I can tell, the hardware is identical in both versions of the speaker, it seems that only the outer packaging and the firmware have been tweaked. I would definitely recommend both versions of the BT525, but if you can get a better deal on the older version, you might want to grab that one instead while you still can.I'm definitely pleased with these BT525 speakers for the price, and I'm very glad that I didn't end up paying twice as much on something like a JBL Clip. Hope all this helps someone!
