This makes taking a temperature so much more easy! I have a in home daycare and I use this for my kiddos. A lot of them do not want to hold still to get a temperature. I bought this for my nursing students to use at the nursing homes. Works well and easy to use for new students.

I had my gallbladder removed a few days ago and started feeling feverish the next day. After checking out 10 or 15 thermometers, I chose this one because it had the lowest percentage of 1-star reviews, but they were all correct. When I took my temperature, it gave me readings from 97.8 to 101.9 when I took it 5 or 6 times in a row in the same spot just seconds apart. I did this several times over the next hour and kept getting the same inconsistent readings so I realized I couldn't depend on it. After a night of chills, sweating, and coughing, I had my wife take me to the ER where they discovered I was feverish and had contracted the flu while I was in the hospital. My wife also has the flu now and the same thing happened when we used it on her. This thermometer is not just worthless, but it could put someone's life in danger if they depended on it to determine if they need medical attention.

I am not sure how accurate this is, I used it on animals and I know some temps it was reading to me was not accurate because compared to rectal temps it was reading 96 (not typically normal for a dog) while the rectal was 101 (which is normal for a dog). So I would not use on animals. As for humans, I personally was running a fever from an oral thermometer and this reader recorded that I was in normal range. I would use this in a quick you know everything is healthy setting but not fully rely on it with a sick patient. It is bright, and I like the function and color/design of it.
