Much tougher than I expecred.
I have a walk behind 6HP string mower that uses .155 line. I bought a roll of triangle yellow Ugly nylon style line from Sears 14 years ago when I got and that 100 ft. roll lasted a long time, but breakage and slip out was always a problem. It was soft, easy ro bend, and didn't really seat securely under the head clips. I thought this was just normal. I finally ran out. But after getting this Oreon Magnum line, my whole thought about .155 line changed. This is much much stiffer, thicker, a true square cut, and unless you hit actual small trees, does not break or pull out every 5 minutes. I beat the bonkers out of this stuff. If you hit small trees, it takes a beating but will break, but with protest It has a core you can clearly see. I am very amazed about how well this .155 line works. Some people mention getting .170 line for walk behind weeders. I imagine it would work real well if you could get it to insert by using a torch to soften the bend, but this .155 line fits quite tightly and securely. Not sure if .170 would pull into the head hooks. This .155 takes a pretty stiff pull and bend and to seat. Regarding using .170, you do need to have a limit on how much stress you put on the mower head. The replacement for a DR style trimmer head is close to $100. Secondly, the current price for this .155 for the amount you get is unbeatable. This roll is very big and will last till you die! It's a great buy currently. Not sure if the Platnum is as good from reading the reviews. But this stuff is impressive and still safe.

Best weedeater string I have purchased
First of all you get a big roll of this stuff and it is heavy. You are getting your moneys worth in quanity. I was late cutting grass this year because of all the rain we have had in Alabama this year. When I figured out I couldnt see the edges of our little running branch I was afraid to run the John Deere lawn tractor close to the banks. I drug out the big guns, the Heavy as all get out Black and Decker rolling weedeater. I put new string in it, lasted about 5 minutes. More string, five minutes. Its a real bugger to put sting in, it was tearing up faster than I was replacing the cord. I came in the house and started looking a .155 weedeater cord. This was not the cheapest, but it was not the most expensive, it was the absolute best. I went back at it again this morning and cut for almost an hour on the creek bank. I got give out and tired of fighting the biting flies, but the cord is still on. I am 70 and I know a good deal, this is a good deal.

Trimmed string
The string has a very good quality for the value. Easy to use and fits very well. The thickness of the string is very good and will get the job done

IT is stiff and cuts though small tree tree shoots with no problem.
A lot of people seem to feel there must be one best trimmer line. Obviously there are a variety of types even in the same manufacture - because they are intended for different uses. This line is stiff and unforgiving if it slows down and fails to cut though and then wraps around a tree shoot or thick weed stem(s).I trim along 5 miles of pasture fencing all season long with a walk behind trimmer and try to keep popple tree shoots from encroaching on that. I use this for the heavy shoot cutting; it cuts like hell - awesome; saves me from having to use a hand trimmer with a saw blade. However; once it gets slowed down due to multiple shoots or heavy wet grass, it is so stiff and unforgiving - it can break off or get pulled out of the trimmer head.Big deal; if I am not in need of cutting though shoots, and just heavy grass - I use the square green without the core that is more pliable - and one set on the trimmer head will last forever -and stay intact when wrapping around small shoots of other things - it is more forgiving. Same goes for some of the star or triangular shaped lines. This particular line is great for me - with woven wire farm fencing going though long wooded pasture sections. It a killer and if it breaks off due to its rigidity some times, especially when it hits and wraps around a vertical wire intersection on the wire fence; just show some mettle - bend over and change it...

Cuts almost everything in the Coast Range on way less gas.
I was using the round Blue .155 Oregon Gatorline in the Stihl Fixcut Head on a Stihl FS 130 with handlebars in the PNW coast range. Cutting fresh trails in mature second growth understory.I decided to try this because "Magum" is better right? Well this time; once again, Magum is better.I am using it in the one-string configuration on the same Fixcut head. Seems to use about half the gas as running two string configuration of the blue Gatorline. Cuts through much thicker material than the blue; much more easily.Full PPE required, and for me that means neck gator, N95 mask with exit breather and Uvex Stealth goggles under a forestry helmet with headphone muffs and a black debris screen - and chaps with leather boots.Made in France.

Extremely satisfied. Great value
I had purchased the .155 round Gator Line and thought it was great. The square is way better. One of the down sides to the round, is that it tends to get stripped out before it wears out. The square stays locked much better & also cuts better. I use this in a 2 wheel push DL trimmer. I used this for 3 hours doing some light weedwacking, but mostly very heavy work. I'd let my wooded area get 3 to 4ft high. I couldn't use my tractor & brush hog, because I couldn't see the stumps. I cut heavy grass, grape vines, large burdocks and it handled it all. Just before I quit, I really wanted to see what it could handle. I got into really heavy grape vine and was surprised that it did so good until I got into a pile of old fencing. It actually cut through some the old welded wire fence, but it finally was stopped by the chain link fence. The only problem I had was feeding it into the trimmer head. One side would go in, but the other wouldn't. I found that after I cut my 22" lengths of line I could use my knife to slightly whittle off the edges on the first 3/4" of line & it went right. Remember "3HOURS" of heavy trimming. I don't mind a few seconds to trim the ends. This would be a bargain at twice the price. I can't wait to try the square .105 line in my hand held trimmer. This deserves a ten star rating and I expect a lot from my equipment.
