THE MATRIX Perception: Our day-in, day-out world is real. Reality: That world is a hoax, an elaborate deception spun by all-powerful machines of artificial intelligence that controls us. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne lead the fight to free humankind in the see-and-see-again cyberthriller written and directed by the Wachowskis. MATRIX RELOADED In the second chapter of the Matrix trilogy, Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) continue to lead the revolt against the Machine Army. In their quest to save the human race from extinction, they gain greater insight into the construct of The Matrix and Neo's pivotal role in the fate of mankind. MATRIX REVOLUTIONS Neo. Trinity. Morpheus. They and other heroes stand on the brink of victory or annihilation in the epic war against the Machines in the stunning final chapter of The Matrix trilogy. For Neo, that means going where no human has dared – into the heart of Machine City and into a cataclysmic showdown with the exponentially more powerful renegade program Smith. For writer-directors the Wachowskis and producer Joel Silver, that means soaring beyond the amazing visual inventiveness of the first two films. The revolutions is now: The Matrix Revolutions.

A (nearly) perfect trilogy set
(This review is specific to the UHD Blu-Ray set US region)I'll cut to the chase, the only reason I included "nearly" as a caveat is due to the set not including the Animatrix, which it wasn't advertised to include, but was something I wanted to note just in case anyone assumed it would.Aside from that, this is the most high quality (non collector's edition) UHD Blu-Ray movie 'bundle' I've purchased. Unlike some other bundled sets, each movie is individually packaged, and the set comes in a well fitting, minimal, cardboard sleeve that I didn't immediately want to throw out.Thankfully, this pack comes with multiple commentary tracks per film, which from what I can tell is not the case for the newer 4 film UHD BR bundle. Technically, there are a couple BTS features that were included in DVD collector sets of old that didn't seem to make it to this trilogy set, but it's far better than nothing.Fair warning, the included digital redemption codes for all 3 movies expired back in 2020, so are DOA, but even still given the price and quality of what is included, still highly recommend this set to any fans of the original trilogy that don't want to hold out for any triple digit priced collector's sets that might be out there. 4.5/5 stars

Excellent video quality, design could be better
If you're big fan of The Matrix trilogy, you definitely want to get it on 4K Blu Ray. The movie was shot in 2K I believe so its "4K resolution" claim can be debated. However the fact that this is 4K out of the box will save your BluRay player and television from upscaling on the fly, so definitely an improvement. The real upgrade here is the additional blue and green tinting (blue in the "real world" scenes and green in the matrix scenes) has been heavily reduced compared to the DVD and standard BluRay releases. This makes a HUGE difference and to me justifies the price of ownership on its own.As for the aesthetic "shelf factor" this leaves a little to be desired. The spine of the set looks sleek as heck, but I'm not a big fan of the box art on the dust cover. Compare the design to "The Ultimate Matrix Collection" which has an amazing, minimalistic Matrix code rain design or the 10th anniversary version of the first movie and you'll see the design here feels more or less mediocre. Even worse, the individual BluRay cases have this AWFUL box art design, featuring a picture of a rabbit, a key, and a sentinel on the front surrounded by non-shiny Matrix code rain. It looks super tacky, coming from a film franchise that has always had really good box art. Fortunately the movies will be inside the trilogy box most of the time so you'll only see it when taking the disc out to play it.The included digital copies are nice to have, and are redeemable with several movie streaming services. The one code allows me to view the movies on four different services, which is great. The digital copies share the same reduction in blue and green tinting as the discs do.Overall it's a great set if you're a fan, but I hope one day we'll get it in a much nicer presentation maybe if they do a 30th anniversary set.

A great set
I will only review the 4k set, not the movies themselves. The movies have been out long enough that people know what they are and how they feel about them. I personally like all of them, almost equally, but as anyone who has been around since the first movie came out, that was a fan of the first movie when it came out, knows the opinions on the quality of the second and third movies that are out there. If you already own the ultimate edition trilogy, the only reason to get this is really for the video and audio upgrade in the UHD format. But, be warned, not all the extras from that version carried over, such as the Animatrix episodes. So, you will probably want to hang onto that if you are a bonus material buff. This still gets you a lot of the behind-the-scenes and making-of features from the original Blu-Ray releases, and you have multiple commentary tracks on the UHD discs (if you want to watch the movies multiple times to get multiple perspectives on them). The audio and video upgrade on the UHD discs are substantial and make the double (or triple) dipping worth it (depending on how many versions you have purchased over the years). While some of the CGI limitations that existed at the time the movies were made still exist in the UHD version (such as making Neo and Smith look like animated characters in the fight scene in the second movie), the overall detail and sound are significantly better than the DVD release and even a big step up from the initial Blu-Ray release. If however, you do not have a 4K TV or projector and a 4K UHD Blu-Ray player, then it is not worth investing in this as you will essentially get the same A/V quality from the existing discs which are less expensive to pick up than this one.
