qt Modern Masters DP401 Clear Decorative Painter’s Acrylic Dead Flat Varnish

I tried it over a black water-based stain. It looks milky when it goes on but don't panic; it dries extremely flat and clear, just like the label says. Pretty good coverage. Not much smell when it's wet, and a few hours after application all I could smell was wood. I'm going to try it over acrylic paint next and see how that goes.Update: Used over "craft" acrylic paints I got the same result. Extremely clear and flat. No smell once it dried, no tackiness, just a nice, even finish.I'll be using this to seal up artificial fixtures in a reptile habitat, where the surface will be exposed to UVB and "rain". I'll update when I know how the surface holds up, but I'm inclined to believe it will do fine.

After stripping and bleaching the cherry finish off this large dresser, I needed a finish that would protect the piece from normal use, but not affect color of the raw wood I had worked so hard to achieve.MM Dead Flat Varnish is 100% my go to! I used a foam roller to apply 3 coats with a very light sanding in between. It dries quickly and cleans up easily with soap and water. You can definitely feel the protection of the varnish when you touch it, but it looks like naked wood! I absolutely love this product!

Received this today and opened the box a few hours after it was delivered.Very close to disaster as the container was leaking when I opened the box and was only about one half turn of the thread away from completely spilling out in the box.I feel this is most likely an Amazon packaging issue as they only had a single 2-compartment inflated bag on one side of the paint inside a box not much larger than the paint container.If the product performs like its stated to, I'll add another star, but since you can only seen to buy this online, having a narrow spill escape and some wasted product is a big issue.

Quality topcoat —I put it on a “bleached wood finish” and once it dried the wood was the color I had bleached it to and not the darker color of the wood-exactly what I wanted! Very easy to use and not sure of the durability at this time because I just finished my refurbished project. From what I have read it should be top quality and durable as well.

I’m very impressed with this! For years I’ve been searching for a wood protectant that didn’t change the color of the wood for certain projects. When we were doing this bath renovation and applies traditional poly to this wood it changed the appearance of the wood so much we considered not even using it. My wife really wanted a soft wood color. I found this online and sanded all the old Polly off of the boards and used this. Came out amazing! In the second pic the shelves are slightly darker just after applying but dried perfect. The small piece next to the shelves was a test piece and believe it or not is half raw wood and half coated in the dead flat! You can’t even see the line. Very useful product and couldn’t be happier.
