no more worries
I have fought cloudy , nasty , algae water in my koi pond for over 2 years now, enough to buy this 55 watt light 10 times over, in 2 weeks my pond has become the clearest it has ever been. since I put in this uv light. I have a 10,000 gallon pond 4 feet deep. I sunk a 55 gallon drum just enough to have it over flow into the pond with just this light so no movement to possibly break the glass. the only drawback is it is very fragile. I have 26 koi about 18 inches long all are doing so good with the uv light killing the bacteria, I dont plan on ever being without this light again. the light is a lot cheaper than the barley junk that never worked to my expectations. this light has taken away my pond woes!

Better than an inline UV if you have a box or barrel filter.
My old traditional inline UV light kept burning out and after a while the lamps would not connect due to corrosion. I was skeptical this would work but after about 1 week in my upflow pad filter the water cleared from dark and green to see through. No extra pipe work or fittings to maintain. Works simply and efficiently. It could be placed in a skimmer box but I would shield it from the fish.

Short circuit on a very first attempt to turn on!
I read some reviews about low product operation stability, yet decided to risk it and purchased 32W version. And it's true: the product itself looks good, well packed, long and thick power cable, but when I turned it on - I had a short circuit right away (probably just in a cord or integrated power inverter). I have a master’s degree in physics engineering and luckily no one was injured: I have a high-quality newest solar system, that I've built myself (Victron) and luckily my 3WA inverter could handle it (cut off the system). It's absolutely NOT acceptable for this kind of submissive device in water. Manufacturers MUST test each model to make sure it works properly. I was planning to use it in my water catchment tank with rainwater, to prevent algae growth (I have a whole-house high-power UV lamp to clean water going through the water pump). I will search for similar and ready to pay 2x price for quality without a electric shock risk. I suggest that the problem might be with place where cable attached to device - it was 180 degrees twisted, this is where the short circuit could happen. I turned it off very quickly and because of my own transformation system it turned the system off, preventing from worse case scenario. Be careful, please. Maybe your will work properly, but be ready for surprises :) Don't put it in water, put of solar glasses and test beforehand. Good luck!

Green water
Works very well takes about 2 weeks to see the difference in green water.

UV light
Product worked very well for 7 months, then it burned out and died. Unfortunately it did not make it the full year. I have a 800 gal pond that was clean the 7 months though

Using light for my Softub spa & it works wonderfully!
Purchased for my Softub spa. I previously had a Sundance spa which comes with a UV light as a sanitizer but the Softub doesn't. This light has been a huge improvement. I previously had to use chlorine too often with the Softub but now only use it a couple times a week & only 1/2 the amount. The light came with suction cups to mount it so it stays put. I put a timer on it for 2 hours a day while the filter is in circulating mode & that seems good to keep the water clean. I hope the light holds up over time! It's a cost effective way to improve water quality.

We shall see…
I have a plumbed in UV for my very large pond. I do all my shopping on Amazon, so when I came on to buy my regular UV bulb, I saw this, and I decided to give it a try since it cost the same as the uv bulbs I use.I just received this today, and I put it in my skimmer. I hope it works because it is so much easier than installing a uv bulb and NOT damaging the sleeve, which I have done at least once.My issue is not algae, but since taking out the summer plants, I think this uv should improve clarity. I will update in a few days. In my pond, clarity always improve 24 hours after installing a new bulb.Update after a few days: I do not think this uv light is working in my skimmer since the water clarity has not changed. I will continue to use it until my 30 return, but I did just order a replacement bulb for my original uv light.
