Bought this to illuminate under our carport and fitted it by our side door so that when we step out it lights up.Fitted at the suggested height it reaches 5 meters and senses at the same distance so illuminates our way back.I gave 3 stars for installation. This is because there was no template for marking the screw holes on the wall and as the wiring goes through the back plate the whole unit has to be offered up to the wall to mark the holes. The supplied wall plugs were of poor quality and pulled out of the wall when tightening the screws and had to be replaced with standard red plastic Rawlplugs.As with previous reviewers it was a bit worrying to have to prise the cover off withe a screw driver!

This was replacing a similar unit which failed after several years, so should have been a doddle to fit. However, instead of the usual internal chocolate-box connector, it has a push fit connector which is only suitable for very thin and stiff wires. My existing wiring was much too thick, so I had to drill out the weather-proof grommet to fit the fatter cable and I cut off the connector to replace it with a chocolate-box connector. The earth cable then proved too short and needed replacing.Finally, all fixed and works a treat. Looks good also on my whitewashed wall.

So far, good PIR outdoor light with very good range. I have it set for maximum sensitivity, which is giving me more than 10 metres. Also has a time and Lux setting. Used a E27/ES LED cool white LED bulb.Fitting not too bad, although the push in connector is not suitable for multi core cable. In my case I used 6242Y cable which is solid copper core, so this worked well. If needed the push connector can be replaced by a screw type terminal connector.Ensure that all holes for screws and cable are well sealed to prevent water ingress.Overall, good quality PIR light at a good price.

The sensor is a bit unpredictable sometimes it doesn’t switch on. It’s only been up for a few months and it’s really acting up not happy at all aside from that. It’s very easy to install and I’d say the brightness is good. It is quite cheap and nasty though.

I wanted a light fitting with room inside to modify it's operation so that it dimmed to 10% instead of switching off completely. There does not seem to be many of these dimming lights available anymore.This one had plenty of room inside and was quite easy to install. This was installed in a sheltered location so I was not concerned that it was only IP44 rated. Bear in mind, you will need an ES lamp, not the standard BC lamp normally used in the UK.

I would send it back but I have fitted it. The PIR part is fine but build quality is poor and the front part that you take off is a pressure fit and once off to fit the bulb it's nigh on impossible to get the lugs back in the plastic to create a seal from front lens to body. Don't bother, get something else !
