does the job & includes heatsink
solder quality on the m.2 pads could be a little better, but overall they have worked with every NVME drive i have tried so far & keep them cool with the heatsink.

Serves it’s purpose without big expense
A lot of the product information in the listing is either inaccurate or misleading. So I really can’t give the product 5 stars as it’s definitely NOT what is described. This is a PCIe 4.0 x1 adapter. Therefore max speeds are for single lane and will depend on if your PCIe slot is 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0. (It is backwards compatible as I’m using PCIe 2.0)If you understand and accept the stats for that please proceed, else you need a x4, x8 or x16 adapter. Now that’s out of the way I’m going to give it 3 stars, because it actually is really easy to set up, comes with all the screws / fittings and even some you don’t need if you’re just taking out a blanking plate and adding this. It also comes with a screwdriver, but my heatsink was done up tight in the box so I used a pro screwdriver as the one in the box was starting to burr them. It’s nice and sturdy though and slotted straight in easily.I had to force my device manager to rescan for hardware changes probably because I’d moved my x1 wifi board along one slot to reuse for this device (allowing room for the heating next to graphics card). Once I’d done that it recognised my pre-populated and formatted NVMe drive no problem. So not I can use my NVMe drive internally instead of in a drive caddy and benefit from the much faster speeds the motherboard offers over usb.Would I buy it again? Absolutely, if I had any spare x1 connectors.Since I know my tech, I knew what I was buying and it’s limitations I would have given it 4.5 stars if it’s description matched it’s actual capabilities and limitations.

Erroneous information.
Within the the specifications entitled (about this item) the text states "Please note: it is not suitable for PCIe X1 slots." and yet when you look at the photo of the item it clearly shows the product as a (single lane) X1 adapter? The card shown would would fit and function within any PCIe slot from X1 to X16, but with speeds of only around 1Gbps for V3 and 2Gbps for V4 - if you're lucky! In addition, the main titles indicate 16Gbps - which cannot be achieved with an X1 configuration. The only way to get anywhere close to the 16Gbps speed is with a (four lane) X4 and upwards - which would required an X4 to X16 slot adapter. To all intents and purposes the advertisement for the product is for an X1 card and the data is erroneous. Unless (of course) the customer has the option of requesting which configuration they require to purchase, which in this case (for the 16Gbps speed) would be from an X4 to X16 card respectively.Does the advertisement provide this option - doesn't look like it!
