As advertised
The original Pentair salt cell that came with the pool installation of lasted about 5-6 years. I replaced it with an off brand because it was cheaper. So I saved money at the time, but the replacement salt cell only lasted 2 years. Replacement brand sells also. Do not allow for full functionality like setting the chlorine level from your remote app. This time I decided to go back to the Pentair salt cell and was surprised after shopping around that this one was offered at a much cheaper price than every other Pentair supplier locally or online. I was thinking all kinds of scenarios like maybe it was refurbished, or didn't have all the parts or wiring, or wouldn't come with a warranty. I was pleasantly surprised that it came in the original sealed factory box, included all parts, including replacement pipe connectors and gaskets, and has the full 2 year factory warranty.Installation was quick and easy. No leaks and up and running with full functionality. If you are looking to replace your Pentair salt cell, it is worth it to get this one at such a deeply discounted price. Not sure how they do it, but everything looks just fine, and delivery even arrived 2 days earlier, then expected. Their customer support is responsive as well. I had a question up front before I purchased it and they answered me within an hour.

Unfortunately I had to replace mine but this was the exact unit replacement. It came the day it was supposed to, installed exactly perfect, boxed new in the box, and working perfect so far! This was an A++ transaction.

Replacing Pentair IntelliChlor IC40
Our pool is 2 years old and during the winter the power unit came off the wall and damaged the plug from the IntelliChlor IC40. The people who built the pool and installed all the hardware said that Pentair did not make a replacement plug and that I'd have to replace the IntelliChlor unit in total and quoted a price above $800 for a new unit. I lowered my rating of the IntelliChlor to 4 stars because there is no way to replace just the plug. I bought a new IntelliChlor for a little under $500 at Amazon. I read the reviews on Amazon and they were very helpful. As suggested I took pictures of the orientation of the old unit to ensure I had the flow arrow pointing in the correct position and took note of the location of the debris adapter and the O rings. I was able to unscrew the water line connector on both ends by hand (the installer had followed directions and the fittings were hand tight) It took 30 minutes to read the manual (most important part is about the Leds and what they mean). I switched out the old unit and installed the new unit in less than 10 minutes. As the manual says, turn off the pumps and ensure the IntelliChlor has the power off (I turned off the unit at the circuit box). The new unit easily slid into place and I screw the connectors at both ends (used the old connectors -- they showed no wear)After connecting the unit to the power unit I switched on the pumps and the power unit for the IntelliChlor. I verified that there were no leaks at the IntelliChlor unit. But the Leds didn't come on. I'd read on Amazon that the power unit that the IntelliChlor plugs into has a fuse. Read the power unit manual by Pentair -- it was not very helpful. It trouble shooting section it mention that the fuse was a slow blow 10 amp fuse but didn't tell how to change it. Amazon Answer to Customer questions came to the rescue. There was an answer that said that the fuse was a thumb type (wasn't sure what this meant at time) and that the fuse would come out of the bottom of the unit. There were several comments about customers who had to replace the fuse and had to purchase a new fuse holder after attempting the change the fuse. I used a small screwdriver to remove the fuse (put the blade in the slot of the fuse holder, push up and rotate and the fuse will come out. The fuse holder holds the fuse tight (very bad design by Pentair). The fuse twisted off as I took it out. Fortunately the top half of the fuse came out and didn't stick inside the holder. The bottom part of the fuse (the part that the screwdriver slot in it) had the bottom part of the fuse stuck in it. Based on the Amazon reviews I knew that fuse end would come out but that you had to be careful to separate if from the holder. I finally got it out with a small metal pick.Put in the new fuse and turned on the power and the IntelliChlor was working (Led lights were on). The salt light were blinking, but I recalled that I'd read something about this state in the IntellChlor manual -- back to the manual to discover what the blinking was telling me. When the IntelliChlor unit is initially turned on the light blink for two minutes. Bottom line, all well and good. Next step is to have the pool water tested to determine how much salt to add (last year after opening the pool it took about 500lbs for our 25,000 gallon pool.

One Year Later: Still the Best Investment for My Pool
The media could not be loaded. After a full year of using the Pentair IntelliChlor IC40 Salt Chlorine Generator, I can confidently say this was one of the smartest decisions I’ve made for my pool. My setup includes a pool with just over 12,400 gallons, and this unit — rated for up to 40,000 gallons — has consistently kept the water perfectly balanced without breaking a sweat.Over the past year, I’ve enjoyed clear, clean, and soft-feeling water with zero chlorine odor or irritation. Maintenance has been minimal, and I haven’t had to manually add chlorine once. The IC40 has handled Puerto Rico’s heat, heavy rainfall, and near-daily use like a champ. It’s paired with a Pentair SuperFlo VST pump, a Clean & Clear Plus 320 filter, and runs on a dedicated timer with surge protection. I also replaced all the plumbing with 1.5-inch lines and added check valves and high-quality shutoffs. The system runs flawlessly — flow is great, the salt cell self-cleans, and the control panel makes it easy to monitor and adjust output as needed. After a year of use, there’s no corrosion, no buildup, and the water quality is as good as day one. If you’re considering switching to a salt system, don’t hesitate. The IntelliChlor IC40 is worth every penny.
