Chop, Chop, Baby!
I picked up this camping ax, and let me tell you, it made me feel like a total wilderness pro—despite the fact that my camping experience mostly involves sitting by the fire and making s’mores. Still, this ax is no joke. It’s super sturdy and sharp, and it slices through wood like it’s no big deal.I half expected to be a lumberjack after one swing, and while I didn’t exactly turn into Paul Bunyan, I did feel pretty awesome. The grip is solid, and it’s just the right weight, so I didn’t feel like I was going to drop it on my foot or chop off any limbs. If you want to impress your camping buddies or just channel your inner Bear Grylls, this ax will definitely do the trick.

Not very sharp out of the box!
I’ll give this a five but it deserves a little less. When I got it the edge on the blade was awful and as dull as a butter knife. The angle was all wrong and in places the edge was thick and blunt. After about an hour plus with first a file then a stone I can now practically shave with it. This required lots of work, finesse and sharpening experience, something that lots of people don’t have an understanding of or practice with. This all being said the bit does seem to hold a very good edge when using it so the quality of steel is pretty good I’d say. GOOD LUCK!

Nice hatchet with a large bit for it's size
Overall this is a great little hatchet and I am surprised that the it is as large as it is but does not feel too heavy or unwieldy. The convex grind was too wide towards the edge and I wish that it came with a belt sheath rather than just a blade protector one. It is now properly sharpened and I can use an ax loop but that is extra time and money.

Chopping Great Camp Ax
Well made and surprisingly high quality and value, this Trivoi 15 inch ax is a delight to split kindling with and pound tent stakes with and such. Needed a little sharpening and some mineral oil on the real hardwood handle, but thats normal. Whats not normal is getting a value at this price point. Looks impressive, has a nice leather blade bonnet and will outlast me.

Good for starting your bushcrafting hobby..
Although not a seasoned bushcrafter..yet. This axe seems like it will be decent enough to start the learning process.- axe head is dry and whatever the black end coating is is chipped in places and worn in others. Also some overspray of coating between the butt and the shoulder. UPDATE: The butt is slightly canted and the shape isn’t rectangular- not a smith but the quality of the head appears to be decent- axe will require sharpening right out of the box as it’s got an edge that would probably pinch more then cut- obviously its a mass produced head as the eye is offset slightly to the right and the bit points slightly (3-4 mm) to the right..- grind towards the toe on the right appears to have been ground inappropriately and instead of sloping gentry towards the bit.. flairs out slightly then back in.. not a deal breaker- the handle is dry and will require a light sanding as there are imperfections protruding from it. Will need some linseed or other oil to protect it.- the paracord will be replaced with something that could act as a fire starter if required.- the sheath is fine…probably won’t hold up long and also will require a protectantUPDATE: I have downgraded from original to a 2-star rating based on the quality of the head. I think there are probably better options at this price point that would be in better shape than this one. I had uploaded pictures but they didn’t take.

Meh. It's ok, but you may have to go through a couple of them
The first one I recieved was a hot mess - eye was badly off-center and crooked, the blade was crooked with the handle, the poll was terribly ground and uneven, the head was very poorly fitted to the handle (wood filler had been used to try to cover up the gaps, which is why a lot of people say that they get loose after a couple of uses), and it was about as sharp as a plastic butter knife. I don't particularly hold that part against it, sharpening a blade is just part of the game. But it was unfixable on the whole. I ordered a replacement, and the one I got back was better. The eye is still a little off center, but at least the whole thing is straight and much better fitted to the handle. The poll is still not square, but I think a little attention with a grinder could solve that. All In all, I'm going to have to think about whether the eye being off center is enough to be problematic or not, and whether or not I want to just send it back too and find something else. I get the feeling these are made more for decoration than actual usage, or are made for throwing vs actual bushcraft, camping, etc. I think these are a good examples of getting what you pay for, in both good and bad ways. I own higher quality axes and hatchets, but they cost significantly more. So overall, I'm going to give this three stars. It should probably be two for the inconsistency, but they did get me a replacement quickly and I may keep it.
