Fantastic upgrade if you know what you’re buying
This is a great upgrade to your PS5 but there seems to be a lot of confusion as to how it works. This is an external hard disk drive (HDD) as opposed to a more expensive, internal solid state drive (SDD). An HDD (like this one from Seagate) plugs into your PS5 with an included USB cable and allows you to store tons of games on it, but they can’t be played immediately. An SSD, on the other hand, requires installing inside your PS5 with the other components, but allows you to play games right away. A SSD is easier and faster to use, but costs considerably more per TB. For example, this Seagate 5TB HDD costs about the same as a 1TB SSD. A 5TB internal SSD will cost nearly triple what this one does. Some games take over an hour to install initially, but only ~10 minutes to transfer to your console so you can play them. So, with this Seagate HDD, you store your entire game library on it and then keep a handful of PS5 games stored directly on your console to play right away. Then, you can quickly move them back and forth between the Seagate drive and your console as you play different games. If you don’t need 5TB, or can afford a very expensive 5TB internal SSD, you should definitely get an SSD. But, if you have a lot of games and not a lot of money, this is a great option and 10 minutes to transfer a game isn’t that big of a deal in reality. So, this is a great option for people, such as myself, that aren’t willing to buy an expensive SSD with enough storage for all of their games. It’s also nice bc you can bring this external drive to use on a friends PS5 and quickly transfer the game to them, instead of waiting an hour for it to download or bringing your entire console with you. So, in summary, this Seagate HDD is cheap, has lots of memory, and requires about 10 minutes to move games around when you finish one and want to get other games ready to go. Whereas an internal SSD is expensive, has less memory, but allows all of your games to be played right away. In my experience, having 6 or 7 games on your console at a time and then these rest on an HDD to transfer quickly when you want to, is a fantastic and budget-friendly option. The drive itself is high quality, looks great, and pairs perfectly with the white PS5 console. I definitely recommend it!

More Space is always better
I would have bought an internal HDD (the 2TB WD- Black) but I went ahead and bought this due to pricing and amount of storage. I now have over 20 games saved to this drive including all of my game captures. I have only one drawback: you're moving games back and forth. I'm not worried about corrupting saves as it seems pretty straightforward forward DO NOT UNPLUG from your PS5 (safe eject feature available when planning to store or move console). However, If I want to play a game that has 150 GB that is currently not on my internal drive, I have to move over (or previously delete) 150 GB worth of games to the Seagate and then copy the one game that I want to play. The copy process (moving the game back to the internal) takes a few minutes (10 -15) as you skip the "hard download" you would normally get from downloading a game as it is a local download and not a wireless download. The drive looks cool, isn't that much of an eye-sore as it is hidden from my view, and after much use, would pick this option again as it freed up a lot of space from my internal drive, which had a way higher price point then the drive along with less storage. Recommend it to anyone looking to boost their storage situation as we all know 1TB is NOT enough when new games average 80GB - 150GB a game.

Works for intended purposes
Needed extra space for the games. Great for money when on a tight budget.

DO. NOT. BUY.
DO NOT BUY! You can’t download games to it automatically nor can you play PS5 games from it! It’s a complete waste of time and money! You have to download PS5 games to your console and then move them to this POS. You can play PS4 games you download to it, but no one is buying this to do that I’d imagine now. If you want to increase the storage without this BS headache, you need to add it to the PS5 by opening up the PS5 and adding an additional storage unit (at least I think it’s additional, pretty sure you don’t replace the existing one, but I haven’t gotten there yet).

Nice and small, easy to set up.
Easy to format to PS4, and put my games onto it to expand space/reduce download times. Crazy something so small holds 2 TB.

Works great
Yes it only stores PS5 games. Cannot play them directly from it. You can store and play PS4 games from the device, but your console tells you that. Overall pleased with my purchase, cleared up a lot of space.

Doesn't come with UsB C cord option.
At first I had issues as my ps5 only had 2 ports it could connect to. USB c in front and the USB 3.0 in back. Now the back port is covered by a fan that keeps my ps5 running cool so my only option is in front however the problem arises when I can't connect in front so I had to to buy an adapter that converted a male end USB 3.0 to USB c. At first I didn't think it would work but it does! So now I'm able to have this connected at all times a d I'm able to shift around data so I don't have to delete games to make room.So besides that it didn't come with USB c cord or even it own adapter, it works decently.

Works great
This Seagate Game Drive is basically a black hole… for all my games. 🎮✨ Plug it in, and suddenly my PS5 can hold everything without begging me to delete 17 save files. Fast, reliable, and sturdy enough to survive me yelling at the screen during boss fights. Honestly, it’s like giving your console a supercharged memory upgrade—and my gaming nights have never been happier.
