I love the vibrant blue color. So pretty and durable for everyday use. I put them in the dishwasher without issue.

We use theses bowls more often than the plates. Love size and shape, our go to.

Very well packaged. Had read a few comments about them arriving broken, worried needlessly. I was and am intrigued by the design. Thought the pattern would have a name. Just called Italian. The dish can tell a different story every time it is used. The bowls are not heavy earthenware, imagine they will chip or break if abused. Can be washed in a dishwasher, used in a microwave, made for modern times. I love them.

Spode became a favorite years back when I had my first dinner with my boyfriend's family. Now it is a treasure to have a set of my own to host events in our home. I ordered these in preparing to host our first Thanksgiving Dinner ever. I was upset to find that the the dishes were not marked as "fragile" and were only packaged with flimsy cardboard dividers. Amazing to me that only one broke, but unfortunately it added to the chaos of the event not going well. Overall, I love these dishes, especially since they have Italian scenes, but buyer beware to purchase way more than you need and buy them way in advance if you are depending on these dishes to host a major event.

These bowls are a great size for soups and pasta’s. Very sturdy for a light weight bowl, Gorgeous color and glaze. Can feel four little bumps on the back, they are the only imperfections on the bowls.

In 2014 I purchased a set of these with the large pasta serving bowl. Unfortunately, there was a recent accident and one of the bowls was destroyed and another one chipped. So, I found these on Amazon and ordered replacements. When this order arrived I immediately noticed a difference in the weight of these bowls vs my older ones and felt a bit disappointed. These new ones, still made in England, are much thicker, especially around the rim. After weighing each bowl and comparing, I discovered that they are exactly 2oz more than my older set. I checked the backmark and discovered that they are indeed not the same. It's not a huge problem and no one dining would notice and I'll keep these but I'm just warning others that may be as picky as I am that there is a significant difference in the thickness that is very obvious when stacking them. I prefer my older A-4 style that was made in 2004 which is why I give these 4 stars. I will continue to search for 2 bowls that match my older set.I'm sure many will appreciate the thicker, heavier design.

One plate broken into pieces

These pasta bowls are not just for pasta! I use them for single serves of salads, fried rice, noodles, soup and more! I would call them multi-purpose bowls. They are so versatile in my home. The Blue Italian is an elegant Spode design and looks good on my table.
