Rain BirdLDPE 16mm x 100m black irrigation pipe - 4bar - Hozelock compatable

I bought this to make a DIY solar water heater for our boys paddling pool. Works a treat! These black LDPE hoses are the best overall to use for a cheap DIY solar pump, but beware how easily they kink.The pool is 2.6x1.6 metres and has a capacity of 1,600 litres. On a sunny day, this heats the whole pool from about 15 degrees in the morning up to well over 30 degrees Celsius. In full mid day sun, the water comes out the panel at 50 degrees, too hot to touch... just amazing! Great for the environment and saves a fortune on energy bills as well. It consumes just 20 watts to power the tiny pump compared to 800-3000 watts for a typical water heater and is much more powerful... when it's sunny. Who goes in a paddling pool when it's cold weather anyway! Going to rig it to our hot tub next!I built the solar panel with pressure treated decking boards and cable ties. I bought a 12v water pump on Amazon for £20 which consumes just 12-24 watts depending if you power it with 1 or 2 amp plug. The pump needs a decent head/lift weight of 3-5 metres otherwise it struggles. The standard pool filter pumps cannot create enough pressure and their flow rate is way too high. This also needs regular garden hose at each end to connect between the pool and the water.

Excellent fit for purpose, a solar water heater

I used this for a home made solar panel, even with the extreme temperature and a central heating pump a running at max pressure the pipe has done well. Not what it's made for but exceeds it's intended use.
