116 is Medium Brown
Minus one for the color. I have medium-light brown hair with no gold or red..its a greyish mousy color, but I also have greys. I didnt want to use a golden color cuz I hate brassy hair. I didnt want greenish ashy color..so I chose this. I did my ends first then the roots. The peroxide lifted the color at my roots and Im glad I didnt do them first cuz they do have an orangeyness..the ends absorbed alot of color and turned a bit darker than I hoped. I really wish there was a greyish neutral light brown..im worried about using 115 lightest brown. I may try that or ash light brown despite my reservations. I definitely dont want to use dark blonde..blonde does not suit me and I dont want to deal with the brassy issues of having blonde hair nor the roots. I suppose this is alright..when it fades it may not leave so much orange behind as a golden shade would. Im only going to be touching up my roots now after this then at the last minutes pull the color through to the ends to avoid a line of demarkation. Unfortunately you do need to use a peroxide based color to color the greys perminantly or at all..As far as this formula in general...it does have a strong smell and at first wiff did make my eyes slighty red. You have to be very careful not to drip this in your eyes both in the application and the washing process..It was not harsh on my scalp though and it seems like a fine brand to use..theres really no need to get a more expensive brand with gimmicky scented oils. I didnt feel any pain on my scalp.
