Q: Would a 15.6" laptop fit in this bag with camera gear in it too?

It may "fit" but the compartment does not close. My 15.6" Dell inspiron 15 7000 series will not let the zipper close.

Q: Has anyone used this for a year or more without the top part ripping apart?

I have had mine for almost a year and I have nothing close to material lacking. The material on the bag is pretty steady, I take it with me on hikes and throw it on rocks, sand, and gravel and it hasn't even picked anything.
