Yes I think they would work fine.

The color shown in the Amazon add illustrates a purple colored knife handle. Unless you are cutting paper or cardboard boxes with gloves on, the blade in the knife blade will not interfere with the knifes function. the blade does not know or care about the color of the handle. This is a terrific price for the three knifes. Be certain not to buy the artificial substitue for simulated orange plastic 100 pack blades. Spend a $1 more for the black Craftsman plastic housed 100 blade pack, definitely will make you HAPPY!

You should be able to cut them easily. The blade does in fact lock by pulling the yellow tab out. They are sharp enough to cut.
