Cutter Tick Test

This kit saved my sanity!! It’s great to have on hand if you live near the woods or go hiking often. This summer I stupidly went outside in my nightclothes to check on what I thought was an injured animal. I crept low in the uncut grass and a tick climbed on. It wasn’t until 3 days later I noticed it. Fully engorged. I removed him and put him aside in a plastic baggy. As days progressed I watched the bite area and sure enough a red bullseye appeared. I started freaking out because I suffer from ulcerative colitis and thinking about how the antibiotic treatment would wreck my lower GI track I had no idea what to do next. So thankfully my mother decided to google options and somehow she discovered this amazing kit and company. I mailed out the tick (still alive!) and within a matter of a day or so I was texted confirmation that the lab received it. Shortly after I was told they identified the species as a lone star tick. After hearing that news I was so relieved! Lone star ticks do not transmit Lyme. The reaction bullseye was an allergy that slowly cleared up. Thankfully I do not have any red meat allergy symptoms. I’m forever thankful to the professionalism this company offers. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

this is so convenient, i was very scared because i found a tick in my dog and this made me feel so much better, its a really smooth and easy process. you get the results pretty quick too. amazing service truly! ill be ordering more in the future and recommended this to all my friends!

This product is a waste of money. Forget about using it to extract a tick as there are far better tools out there for the job. I strictly bought this to test a deer tick I removed from my side. When you open the product the instructions are trying to upsell you twice for two "more comprehensive" testing options. At any rate, I'd like to at least see if this tick tested positive for Lyme disease. It's been a week since I've mailed it and haven't heard anything back. Do yourself a favor and just go to a minute clinic and get seen, they'll put you on one heavy dose of doxycycline which is pretty effective at preventing Lyme if caught early. I haven't developed any symptoms or the typical bullseye rash at the bite site, so I suppose I'm in the clear. I regret even buying this test as by the time I get the results I would have already developed symptoms. As a final note, my care provider said they don't recommend testing a tick one way or another as they'll empirically treat you and it takes time for a blood test to show whether you've contracted a disease. In short, save your money this is a waste and not a timely source of information at that. I'd like my money back

living in an area where lyme is common, i have used at least one of these tests every year. i want to be cautious about putting a family member on antibiotics, but i also wouldn’t want a tickborn illness to progress any longer than necessary. the test is simple to use and results/ communication is quick and clear.

The only reason this got a four star review is because sending the tick in was easy and fast. Everywhere else said it couldn't be done since the tick was dead. It had bit my son and got it off but no one could tell me where to get it tested after death. This place had a package for it and tested it in the lab and got results through text and mail. No lyme. I do worry the essential oil we used that made it back out and kill it might have skewed the results by killing the lyme since it can kill lyme but no signs of infection yet and did this a while ago. Would have done five stars if tick extractor was more than a pair of plastic tweezers.

I do environmental survey for work, and after a really bad tick experience I added this to my travel medical kit. The only snag I hit was that the included tweezers are really bad, but I used my own. Otherwise, all the mail-in materials were super easy and well organized. I had to go down to the hotel front desk for a stamp, but that’s easy enough. I was able to mail the tick off just 2 hours after finding it, and I got my results just a few days later. Plus, getting text updates (“your tick has arrived”) was kind of hilarious.I do wish they sold refill kits though, it’s kind of annoying to buy a new one each time, especially when the plastic case and tweezers are non-recyclable.

It did what it said. Dropped the sample in a mailbox on Thursday, and had Lab results by Wednesday. I would advise anyone using the kit to read the directions closely and make sure to put the correct stickers on the correct place.

We found two ticks on our dog and sent them both out for testing. One came back positive for a Lyme and about 6 weeks later we had our dog tested for Lyme and she was negative thankfully. I will probably have them do another blood check at her next appointment just to be sure but it was peace of mind to know if there was a concern with the ticks.If we ever have one on our human family we will definitely send it out for testing.
