Don't forget to replace the gland seal at the same time as the thermostatic head.
It is good still to be able to buy replacements after around three decades!In my experience, if these heads fail it is because central heating water has seeped around the gland seal of the valve and has rotted the plastic of the thermostatic head. I strongly recommend, therefore, that the gland seal is replaced at the same time as the head and that the seal is inspected periodically, perhaps annually.

A quick fix to a broken valve.
This was a very simple fix to a broken valve. I was unaware that you could buy just the top part of the valve. So easy to install. Literally took less than a minute.
