The Last of Us: The Complete First Season (DVD)

Great adaptation of the game to the TV screen and blue ray. Worth a watch even to non gamers, with a good and heartfelt story that is fun for fans of the game and fun for non gamers alike

I'd seen clips from the series on YouTube and wanted to see the full series. But subscribing to another streaming service was too expensive, so I waited for the DVD set to come out. Never have played any video game, but am a Pedro Pascal fan, and the story is a touching, intense, thought-provoking and well-done drama, with definite comic moments. Everyone in it is great, though Pedro and Bella Ramsey take the cake.The 4-disc DVD set has plenty of extras. Looking forward to the next season!

So first of all, a personal must own on physical 4K UHD. Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos quality are superb!So I’ve seen multiple reviews stating it’s “not exactly like the game” type comments. I’ve yet to see a film adaptation that represents the source material exactly.This can be a good thing though. Some episodes are so true to the game it’s insane. I knew the dialogue before it was spoken. We also get to see content that is brand new that’s honoring the game’s central message: love, and what you’ll do for people you love. Seeing things from a different angle is refreshing, but talking about this more goes into spoiler territory. The special features and extras included are really cool by the way. I also love that the packaging is slimming, taking the same storage space as a single disc release (all discs are 4K only).I do feel that season 1 is a bit rushed. It could’ve been twice the length as some (arguably) important content for them to utilize was surprisingly absent. I know that sounds hypocritical to my “not like the game” comment, just missed opportunities of further immersion. Those who haven’t enjoyed the game won’t notice this though.Final point, the series and the game aren’t codependent on each other. Enjoy the series. Enjoy the game. Two separate masterpieces I very highly suggest.Kindly support physical media!

This was a good story. The zombies were really fun guys. They were strong fast and not completely stupid.The little girl is annoying at first but quickly grows on you. Her protector is similar as he does not seem like a good guy at first. He also will win you over as the story and quest continues.I think the gay episode was kind of a sidetrack that didn’t really add to the story. If that sort of thing bothers you just skip it. It won’t affect the rest of the story. I didn’t mind it but it should have added. Maybe I missed something but didn’t see much point to it.Melanie Lynsky was a psychopath and she did well with the part. She was ominous and scary.I saw one review that seemed to think it was an attack on Christians. I thought it was more of an attack against people who exploit the faithful. I liked how it was handled.Get ready for a heck of an ending. Sometimes the right choice is subjective. IMHO the hero did the right thing. If an individual doesn’t matter the collective matters less.When things are at the worst it is more important than ever to be good. Even the rather mercenary smuggler chose to be good when it mattered.

Really good season one except for the romantic details otherwise very good!

I love this series. Very good adaptation of the video game. Good add on to my collection.
