It was vexing to search for a good quality humidifier for more than one and a half years! It felt like the market was saturated with garbage quality humidifiers. Most of them were not built to be durable. It was just ridiculous that the market didn't have affordable-cum-durable humidifiers. The expensive ones were way too expensive for general use that it did not make sense to buy any one of them. I am sure many people who value their money, but also care about the durability of a product have the same exasperation as I.I finally found that the Reffair Caligo 500 Humidifier met most of my requirements. It had good reviews. There were no complaints about its build quality. This was a major green flag in my decision to purchase it. It has a digital LED display and four feather touch buttons. It came with both Cool and Warm Mist options. Most importantly it is easier to re-fill water and clean the humidifier. If used every day, the ceramic filter must be changed after every 6 months. Aromatic essential oils can be used in this humidifier. The downsides of using essential oils are we cannot use the ceramic filter with essential oils and we must also make sure to clean the humidifier every day. Both the Cool and Warm Mist options works well. However, we must not expect the warm mist performance to be on par with the performance of the expensive Warm Mist Humidifiers.The Timer is a neat and useful feature. It allows us to set the number of hours we would like to run the humidifier, after which the humidifier auto-shuts off. It has a maximum timer function of 12 hours. It works flawlessly. All we need to do is tap the Timer button, with each tap equivalent to an hour. These hours are shown in the display briefly before the display reverts back to the RH value. The RH (Relative Humidity) that appears on the LCD display is the current humidity within the room in which the humidifier is operational. This humidifier comes with a manual and warranty card. It's important to read the manual to know all the humidifier's parts, features and their operations before using the humidifier.The humidifier's build quality is good and it feels durable. The LCD display is very useful for functional information. The feather touch buttons work well. Please note that during installation, we must make sure to avoid pressing the touch-sensitive controls and the digital display at all while attaching the power cable to the humidifier! Why this matters: Touch controls and digital displays are sensitive. Pressing them (especially with force) during installation could damage the unit or cause it to malfunction before it's even used. A power cable is a good indicator of the quality of any electronic product. In this humidifier's case, the cable's quality is very good! One of the reasons why humidifiers stop working is because of electrical surges. So investing in a high quality surge protector will protect this product from surges that happen mostly due to lightening strikes (even indirect ones) or when power returns after an outage. If you are looking for an affordable, durable and feature rich humidifier, this is it!P.S. - The one thing I disliked about this product's purchase experience is that the product was sent in its original box without any other additional protections (e.g. protective outer box). As a result, there were dents and holes in the original box. I was worried that there was a huge probability that the humidifier could have been damaged during transport due to the lack of additional protection. Thankfully the humidifier works perfectly fine. But this reckless manner of not using additional protection is sure to damage some of the humidifiers during transport. Yes the customer has the replacement option, but I fail to understand why would a company take a risk by not taking up additional measures. This not only causes a loss to the company but it also causes unnecessary anxiety to the customers. If this issue is fixed, it will be good both for the customer and for the company. I hope Reffair heeds and fixes this.
