Useful for my server with 2.5" bays where I want to test a 3.5" drive
I have an old server I keep around for test purposes, but the hot-plug bays are only 2.5". From time to time I wanted to be able to test a 3.5" drive I pulled out of something else, and by carefully squeezing this cable into the 2.5" bay and plugging in, I'm able to attach a 3.5" SAS drive in there to check for drive health or pull off any data, etc. It's a rare use case, but it came up enough that for the price of this cable, it made sense.Just remember, this is for SAS, not SATA, so don't be confused. If you don't have SAS drives and a SAS controller, this won't help you at all.

Works as discribed. Built quality is excellent.

This device serves no purpose.
You can already plug a SATA drive into a SAS port. This does not magically make it so that you can read data on a SAS drive without a SAS controller. So unless you need a short SATA extension cable there isn't a reason to buy this or any similar cable adapter that doesn't include a form of SAS controller (which would be much more expensive).
