Not a high quality paper but once in the frame you can't tell. IT does have bevel edge on the inside to give the photo a little depth.

I'm making boxes to hold greeting cards that I have made. I tried using a large sheet that I purchased from a craft store, but the size was too big for my cutter. These are perfect for my needs.

**** UPDATE - I reordered for one reason. I needed 11x14 backing boards and for $4.50 more I could purchase (25) white backing boards and (25) 11x14 white mats and (25) clear envelopes. The only problem like my first order is the mat opening is larger than the normal opening. Again you can see the difference in size with these white mats over black mats I already have. As double mats they work well and for the price it works out well but please be aware if your in the market for these white mats the fit over an 8x10 print is going to be tight. very tight. ***** (Original review) - The White 8x10 mats, backing board and sleeves all arrived well packaged and the quality of the mats and boards are very good with a good thickness. The opening however is more like 4.75x6.75" as opposed to the "standard" 4.5x6.5" opening. You can see the difference on the white mat on top of a black mat with a 4.5x6.5" opening. It gives you approximately 1/8" all around on a 5x7" print which is a bit tight if you ask me. Printing at home one can compensate by making the print a little larger giving you a bit more to play with. 1/8th" may not seem like much but in some cases it's a lot. All in all I do like the clean bevel cut, the color and thickness and with the above in mind would probably order again.
