A fab addition for gaming PCs with no built in disk drive
I've just bought a lovely gaming PC but it never crossed my mind that they don't tend to come with CD/DVD drives anymore. This would be a problem as I like to import my CDs into iTunes so I purchased this drive for what was a low price from a reliable brand. It plugs it via a standard USB (no need for additional power) and works effectively and in relative silence. When not in use, I simply put it into storage. Does a great job and much easier (and cleaner on the looks) than putting a drive into my actual gaming PC.

Great value for a high-quality brand!
Having looked at similar, slightly cheaper devices, I opted for this one because it was a more reputable brand. The other ones may work well for a while, but I was worried that they could fall apart after a few months! I am pretty happy with my choice. It looks nice, is sturdy and does the job. The only small criticism is that it is a little noisy. However, given the attractive price for the quality of the brand, I think that you’d be hard pushed to find a better value, more reliable device.

A great item to have.
Simple to set up and use. Works a treat every time. If you don’t have avcd drive then buy this. I use it a lot for recording and writing.

Such a versatile device
Such a versatile device - have bought these for multiple friends/family as it 'just works'. I use it myself mainly for archiving cds, software and as a collector of old computers, I can confirm it works with XP, Vista and Windows 7 machines, where I use it over the inbuilt and often 'tired' drives these devices come with. Price is also a big plus.

This player rips!
So, further to my video from about a year ago, it was lamination; no marks on the player. I mean, top marks for the player... It seems to be doing what it's built to do. I finally cracked it out for some hardcore faffing - I'm using it right now to rip discs 'cause that's the sort of shenanigans I get up to on a Thursday night. It's going alright, it's winning, although it may have slowed down a bit hours into use, that or it's certain discs I'm decoding. It plays films fine, quietly, without protest, but it may be struggling a little bit when ripping. It's being pushed to its limits though. I'm 'illicitly' using Handbrake to digitise my library, yada yada yap yap. Can't fault it at present and I only really need to use it on occasion after this intensive binge which'll probably shave weeks off my life. After that it'll be consigned to occasional disc reader (with maybe some other responsibilities) once in an irregular while. It isn't shiny either. It's matte black. Fairly boring, also very very lightweight and cheap to the feel - indeed, not like they used to be. Amazon's 'rate features' star-rating implies lightweight to be a good thing, something we want, so y'give it five stars of course for being, yes, lightweight, oh ho, but if it was my choice it'd be heavy as a brick and I wouldn't mind, even if I had to carry it on my back in a specially-made external DVD drive satchel bag. Cheers!

It's thin and lightweight and it works well
Bought this to play CD's through my PC to help pass the time easier. It reads CD-Rom 'written' data quickly too. Good bit of kit and not overly expensive.
