Good value, good product
I was a little suspicious that a product at such a low price would be any good. I was wrong. This fire cement is great. It has stayed blacker than the one my chimney sweep uses and hasn't cracked at all. I did make sure I prepared and cleaned the fire and flue well first but I didn't make too much effort to really get a perfect finish, yet it looks pretty good! It is a little coarser than cements I have used before but I am sure you could get a really smooth neat finish if you need it. Job done quickly and effectively at minimal cost and plenty left for future jobs. Fast efficiant delivery too.

Fireplace repair.
Bought for repair to a 1950's fire lining which was needing repair.Needs a clean surface, use a wire-brush to release soot and remove dust with a vacuum cleaner .Used as both for cementing fire bricks together and facing the repair to leave a smooth surface. If you have a tollerant wife, keep it in the fridge after opening, keeps better, will harden at "room temp".6Kg might seem a lot but have used 1/2 relining the fireplace and have the "floor", under the grate to do yet.Tools, a filling knife, or narrow scraper and a small trowel, pointing one,not a bricklayers one, too large !Wear protective gloves, "Riggers Gloves" are ideal.Apply, damp the area with a brush dipped in water first, not too wet !Apply cement, level off, leave for 24 hours to cure.I asked for a quote from a Hetas tradesman, too busy for 2 months, do not know what a "Het" is, an "as", you decide.I have completed a brick layers course and fire marshal course, with proper care, fireplace repair can be safely done, by one with the ability to use hand tools.

Excellent product
Although it’s very gooey and application is a bit difficult, it is by far the best fire cement I have used. Used this around my fireplace after having to replace “professional work” and it was amazing.

Simple to use
Needed to patch some cracks around the flue to our stove. This cement is easy to apply and did the job just fine.

I was initially pleased with this fire cement
I was initially pleased with this fire cement as it sealed my leaking fireplace well, stopping smoke from entering the room as soon as it hardened.Sadly though, the good news didn't last long. The cement continued to harden to such an extent that cracks appeared after about a week allowing smoke to enter the room again. Eventually, after about 3 weeks it turned to dust. Needless to say, I repaired the fireplace with a fire cement of a higher quality. My advice is to avoid this product.
