Carson MM-350 MicroBrite Pro

A great little pocket microscope that includes an adapter to connect a smart phone for taking images. The images above show a body of a fly, a sheet of printer paper and the wing of a small lacewing type of insect. Using the microscope is easy for a child but using a smartphone to take pictures can be quite tricky at first, due to having to balance the phone while keeping the sibject in view and in focus and pressing the phone photo button.

Great little tool. Very lightweight but feels like a quality build. The phone adaptor made it feel good value for money compared to on its own. The magnification is very good and torch is handy. Battery on the torch lasts a while. Only downside is the phone adaptor doesn't hold well and sometimes more hassle to use

Easy to operate. Camera clip is fiddly.

Most of the other reviews give loads of information but I have found it to be really good, I got the camera clip which is basically just a bit of plastic but it has allowed me to get some good photos so well worth it. One thing to note is that its best to use the Carson app, its super simple but makes photos a little easier to capture as it can be a bit awkward with holding everything, focusing, chasing the alive thing thats being magnified and trying to stop the camera autofocusing or flashing (the Carson app stops all this).

Only works on fibre.

OK ... however only able to get decent view on something that can be placed on a flat surface... if shape is irregular or 3 dimensional not clear image.. i returned it

I hoped this would attach to my phone (pixel 7 pro) ok but it doesn't really. My daughter (3.5) does use it a bit just looking through the lens but it's def not ideal for that with no eye relief. You results may vary with another phone.

I use mine for checking and inspecting certain finishes to metal, honestly did not expect this to be as good as it is. Only two minor minor negatives, one of you have a three lens camera phone you need to sort your phone out to fit the device otherwise your phone switches lens!! Not a huge issue and the other is there is obviously some sort of refraction going on inside to get the clarity and high level of magnification so the image is reversed, like a telescope. So again no issues, it’s brilliant, very clear, high mag and the light is very useful.
