Makita Right Angled Drill
I own a set of Makita drills and drivers, and they have never let me down. 18v LXTs, they have so far built 2 large decks, a 6m gazebo, 2 sheds and many other projects. Same batteries, over 4 years old - 3Ah. It was based on this experience that I took the plunge and bought the right angle drill, the DDA351Z 18v.I had convinced myself that I needed a right angle drill, as I was making a full size bed bed, in a box room, and would only have 150mm or so at one end to drive the screws in.I looked at the small attachments that you can get to drive a 90degrees bit, but figured that they would not last long, or I would lose them.I also saw the reviews of this drill, not all of them great, and that did make me worry a little. However, I reasoned that I am a diy person, not a trade person, and am not planning to use 20mm spade ends to drill throigh joists - not yet anyway. So I looked though amazon, and found the drill at a reasonable price - body only as I already have 2 18v batteries. I still think that the price is a bit steep, hence the 4 stars.I ordered one day, and then the parcel duly arrived within a day or 2, nicely boxed up and well protected. The drill itself is what I expect from Makita quality tools in the 18v LXT range, it feels solid and light, not too complicated. It feels as though it can be used for a long time, its comfortable to use with one hand, however, I found that I got better results using it when I applied pressure directly behind the drill bit.In use, the trigger takes a little bit of time to get used to, an adjustable trigger is not something that I am used to on drills, and I read the instructions suggesting that you dont go flat out straight away. No problem there, for me, this is an expensive bit of kit, and I wanted to het used to it slowly. The drill comes with a screw i handle, which can be fitted either side, and also has the familiar twist chuck to tighten up. The light under the drill is also present however this does tend to obscure the actual item you are drilling.I fitted a battery, squeezed the trigger and got a feel for the drill. It is certainly different to using a normal drill. Sounds different, and feels different. In use, it works really smoothly. Drilling a hole I started slowly and sped up, and the drill performed nicely. I manged to drill all of the holes I needed to, without any issue. I also used the drill to drive in the screws, and again, the drill performed really well. Its also good at removing them too.Overall, the drill handles as I had hoped a Makita drill would, and I was not dispointed. For me, this is a great addition to my toolkit, and whilst it wont replace my normal drill, it is a much better solution for tight to get to areas, and is a robust, lightweight powerful little drill - for the diyer. Pretty sure professionals would have other ideas, but it works for me.

Makita cordless angle drill
Amazon had this at the best price I could find even compared to the usual discount tool suppliers. The drill is the usual Makita quality, feels very sturdy and works as expected. I did wonder about the speed range being a bit high, as some other users comment on, but in practice it seems fine. Haven't tried it with a big diameter bit yet, 1" dia or so, the sort of thing for putting cables through joists etc, but it'll probably cope fine when used sensibly. I've promised myself an angle drill for years but just never done it, having had this a while now I have done a few jobs in a different way to the work-arounds I would have used when I couldn't get a regular drill in the space . If you need one, this should fit the bill.

I’ve always found makita good quality and so far that’s the same for this piece of equipment.
Used for drilling in confined space. Worked well.

Can't drill 20mm holes.
Thought this drill was great when drilling 12mm holes in timber then needed a bigger hole for a cable run and read the spec saying max in wood is 25mm so to be safe I used a 20mm drill bit and the drill smoked like crazy and no longer works. Piece of shit is an understatement starting to steer away from makita the drills are crap on my 3rd combi in 3 years and my newest combi the dhp458 has been repaired 3 times too.

Easy to handle, great power. Great for otherwise inaccessible places
I've used this right-angled drill several times for work and absolutely love it. It's nice and light and allows you to drill in spaces that would be impossible for standard drills to reach. Well worth purchasing. They have saved me lots of time and embarrassment on certain jobs.
