Lovely colour but very thick
Did two coats of primer & 3 coats of this paint to cover the pictured over mantle mirror which was plain pine. Very pleased with the end result. Not the easiest of paints to work with as it’s very thick & does touch-dry quickly, so was still quite worried after 2nd coat as it was quite patchy and brush strokes were quite visible. All came good on the 3rd coat though, possibly helped by my loading the brush a bit more.

Pretty good, but USE A PRIMER
The tin says this can be applied directly to bare metal but make no mistake, you will need a primer. The paint is not opaque enough to get a good finish with one coat. I am on coat number three and can still see through the paint - it will likely need 4-5 coats to look decent. It's a good job the thing I'm painting is fairly flat, because any amount of detail would be lost with this many coats. If you're painting a detailed piece, I would strongly recommend a white spray primer before using this paint. To be honest, I'd recommend that before painting anything with it!Other than that, it looks decent enough. I have some Rust-oleum spray paint that gives a much more realistic shiny finish - this stuff is a little flat and looks artificial. But if you can't use spray paint for whatever reason (overspray for example) then this will do.It's acrylic so no fumes that I can notice and can be used indoors. Brushes etc can be washed clean with water which is nice.TL;DR - the paint is ok enough, but use a white primer first!

Brilliant soft gold finish, very professional
Wow, another Rustins success. Being an amateur painter in all respects, I need to revamp an oak cabinet that the puppies had chewed and scratched and decided that a gold decoration would be great. What I did not want was a a 'bling' look! I used the Rustins Wood Filler in oak to repair the chewed corners and found this easy to use - my result would not pass an exam, but that is not the fault of Rustins! I put on the first coat of Gold and was very pleased how it dried to a smooth soft gold colour. It dried very quickly but I was able to leave it for 24 hours before applying a second coat.. The finish is very professional looking, although I will think about a 3rd coat - which is stated on the tin. It is really easy to apply and nice and sticky rather than drippy like some wood paints. I only got a few tiny bits on the floor and it was so easy to remove.

Beautiful result
Beautiful result on my Buddha statue. Three coats as mentioned on the tin and stirred well before use. Very happy

Full coverage, lovely colour
I wanted to revamp a new book shelf for my room and decided to add some gold to the already there grey. I did have to start with a base paint of white just so I would not have to add as many layers of gold to cover the grey sections.I love the end result, very pleased overall.
