It will work with a Sash door lock as long as there is a suitable handle that will accommodate the u shaped top piece.

The pin is to hold the bar in place once you have chosen the desired measurement.

Q: Can anyone tell me how to make the padded foot more sticky to the floor? I'm struggling to fix the foot. It seems slippery

One of mine is on a tiled floor, up to the handle, it doesn't move at all. Have expanded it enough, it should be a snug fit.
