Hi It does although it has limited buoyancy I alway attach a cord to bottom just in case. I recommend it it has proved useful after a drift dive we missed the pick up boat in choppy sea and darkening conditions , boat saw it over 1500m away

What size and type of battery does this use, please?

the battery is integrated into the handle. The battery can be bought seperately from the seller or any marine store that sells these flares. the cost is approx £23. They however have a very long shelf life.

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question, but is the light attractive/bright enough to work in daylight?

Hi there. There is a test function on the unit which I use regularly and I can tell you it’s bright enough to be seen for a min three mile radius in daylight.

The very fact of a £23 battery which can only be got from the supplier put sme right off!!??

I fact it is only replaceable by a service agent. When serviced and tested.
