While it does work pretty well and the construction is sturdy. Unless you have a huge mealworm farm, wait for a sale as it is a bit pricey. At bare minimum I would recommend the medium sifter, to separate mature worms from baby worms.There are some cheaper alternatives available, especially for beetle management , if you want to get really creative.Eisinly Strainer Skimmer 6.3 Inches

Top-of-the-line don’t ask questions just buy it you won’t be disappointed. Time is money. This one’s worth the money👍

Sadly I had high hopes and was disappointed. I used this for mealworms and puppae and mealworms all fell through when I used this. It was supposed to keep the puppae back but they went right through. Very dissappointed.

I have been using the pupae pan sifter, large pan sifter and frass pan sifter, and HOLY COW do they save me time! I am able to pour an entire mealworm bin into the sifters stacked on top of a 5-gallon bucket (pupae sifter on top, followed by the large pan and finally the frass pan). With just a few shakes, everything’s separated: the pupae stay on top, the next level has my mature mealworms, and the bottom level catches the smaller mealworms and food (so I don’t waste any and I get to put them in another bin to grow out). And all of the frass falls through the last sifter. I can’t wait to buy their medium pan and small pan to complete my set! Honestly the biggest CON for this purchase is that I can only give it 5 stars!

I wrote another review on these sifters because I bought three different sizes to try. They are AWESOME! I ordered a medium pan and large pan as well. I didn't plan to use all three and was going to return the sizes I didn't need. Now I realize I want to keep them all! I'm trying to raise mealworms, and the sifters make it so much easier to sort all the different sizes and stages.

I bought the large sifting pan and the pupae sifting pan. They are way sturdier than I expected and work great! Really happy with these sifters.

I bought the pupae pan sifter, large pan sifter, medium pan sifter, small pan sifter, and frass pan sifter. They are all super sturdy, yet not heavy at all. What has really impressed me is how well they work! I am able to pour an entire mealworm bin into the sifters stacked on top of a 5-gallon bucket (pupae sifter on top, followed by the large pan, medium pan, small pan, and frass pan). By shaking the bucket and sifters back and forth vigorously for a few minutes, everything separates out. The mature pupae stay on top, the second level has my larger mature mealworms, the third and fourth levels catch my medium-sized and smaller-sized mealworms, respectively (so I can grow them out in separate bins), and the frass pan catches all of the food substrate (which can be re-used in my other grow bins), while letting the frass fall through into the bucket. I do notice that some freshly molted pupae and some really small pupae will occasionally fall into the large sifting pan, but that’s to be expected because freshly molted pupae are thin and straight (like mealworms) until they “harden off.” With respect to any smaller pupae that fall through, I don’t want them in my farm anyway because they will produce smaller, sub-standard beetles. So, having them fall into the large pan sifter is ok because then I can easily identify and remove them. And, as I have continued to use the pans, I have found fewer small pupae falling through because I have been getting rid of those inferior genetics from my farm - so, using these pan sifters has helped to make my farm more robust. Needless to say, I LOVE these pan sifters!!

this is a very well made product. i use it with the 5 stackable trays of another brand since I cant afford to buy all stainless steel trays
