Is this product suitable to 'treat' a deer mount that has shedding patches? (so presumably has already sustained some damage/ infestation)

Yes I treated a roe deer Mount that had textile moths eating it, I treated it weekly as well as the rest of my taxidermy collection and it seems to have eradicated the problem

Do you just spray it on and leave to dry?

Yes, that's all I do with my taxidermy items. Then I let them dry naturally. Never had any problems on feather or fur.

I have a fox pelt scarf and a lot of the fur comes off when wearing it, would this help reduce the amount of fur that falls out?

It will help protect against any insect or moth attack... you would need to give it a treatment regularly with this to eradicate the problem...and then spray it every 1-3 months as a maintenance precaution. You could also pop your scarf if its reasonably small in the freezer for up to 3 weeks to completely make sure any possible parasites/insects moth larvae anything is completly dead ..this would be a goid idea with a vintage piece thats shedding fur else you may end up with a balding item...freezing it for a length if time would kill off any mites etc which you cant see which could cause shedding... so thats another option for you...as for the fur shedding these suggestions will help in the long run ... but because it sounds like some damage has already been done probably due to age and some kind of unseen parasites this causes fur loss and you would need to treat the item to reduce/stop amy further loss in the future and retain whats left aswell as possible to ensure it lasts.. hope this helps.

Can I use it on a fur hide rug to help stop hairs shedding?

This won't keep the hairs in the rug, just prevents insect damage ect. Depending on the animal the fur is off and if it's a summer or winter coat determines the hair loss. Always best to just have them off heavily used areas.
