After researching tons on inline heaters, I found that amazon provides the best deal for the product. Given that the price is comparable to buying this little device second-hand from kijiji or forums, the purchase was a no brainer for me. The product arrived brand new in the box and within a week of placing the order.I have it hooked up to my Eheim 2213 and the tubing works perfectly on the 1/2" hose. Temperature is constant and it's a great little product that frees up aquarium space allowing the tank to be more aesthetically appealing. On a practical standpoint, I no longer have to unplug the heater every time I perform a water change and I don't ever have to worry about the water reaching below the traditional heaters. So far, I have not experienced a reduced flow rate of my filter. I can't emphasize the convenience of this product and I wish I had purchased it for all my tanks - it's well worth the investment given that it's only a slight premium over traditional heaters. Aside from a sump system, this is the best alternative for temperature control in an aquarium.

Decided to purchase the Hydor out of desire to remove as much ugly equipment from the inside of my tank as possible. I read reviews here and on many fish forums as to the pros and cons of the unit. Some have reported issues, and just as many have said they are long lasting and very reliable. As to hooking it up to the line that returns filtered water back into your tank, it is a very simple process. Simply splice into place making sure the heater stays in the vertical upright position. The Eheim 2215 has 1/2 inc tubing, and couples up perfectly with this model of hydor I purchased. NO leaks, easy peasy! It takes a day or two to let it run, and get temps adjusted, and I'm happy to say it is very reliable at holding them which is all that I can ask for in a piece of heating equipment. As to how it stands the test of time? That is yet to be decided. But here is what I love, 1. It heats my tank consistantly and efficiently 2. It's not inside of the tank! 3. Many folks report having used them for five to ten years... what more could you ask for? So many heaters these days are not made to last over a year, with the worst of them getting stuck on and overheating the tank. If the Hydor fails it is supposed to shut off, and I figure there's always the option of going back to the glass or titanium ones,( I always keep a new ebo-jagger in storage just incase) but for now, I enjoy having a tank with fish being the focus. I will report if the Hydor does not preform, but I have high hopes for it long term. Update: 2/24/2020: it's been over a year now, It's preforming flawlessly, love it!
