SECHUAN or Japanese Pepper Tree Zanthoxylum piperitum Spice Plant, Fruit pod Used as a Pepper Substitute, 5-7cm Tall Seedling in a 7/8cm Pot

Following receipt my plant failed to thrive. I managed to keep it alive in a polytunnel for a few months but it never really grew even with careful monitoring. I’m loathe to throw good money after bad and repeat the experience.

Arrived well packed, with instructions how to grow enclosed. Much smaller than expected yet looks healthy.Seems as if it will be a few years before the plant looks substantial but nonetheless, hopeful.

It's always a risk buying plants online but I really wanted a schezwan plant and was struggling to find something that didn't cost a fortune.The plant arrived in good, healthy condition, clear instructions and a little packed of plant food. It's happily growing in its pot in the garden.

I'm not sure what to make of it. I got the plant in May 2019. It has been growing well since but hasn't produced any fruits. It looks nothing like the sansho pepper plant my parents had in their garden in that it hasn't branched out, but has grown straight upwards with large, spiny leaves.

I bought two of these plants for safe measure. The reality of them was they were smaller than I expected when I got them, but they grew well. Kept them in the greenhouse and then over the winter they lost their leaves. The plants have shot away since the spring and are looking very healthy and promising, so I am very pleased.

Would have loved it but it didn't grow even though the instructions were closely followed. At this price hardly a major disaster but, nevertheless, disappointing.
