These ones are very thin. .maybe 1cm wide ...I am considering getting the bigger ones next time as my tiny yorkshire terrier gets through them now very quickly

Don't know where beef comes from but u could ask the makerI have a pedigree mini Pom with a very sensitive stomach and he's fine with these and he loves them
