Q: Would this work as a barrier to prevent chaffing when open water swimming

I would think so. I use it for cracked heals, and as a barrier for my hands as I am a gardeners and my hands get very dry.

Q: Is this similar to the lanolin sold as nipple creams for breastfeeding? From what i can see,i cant see any difference .thank you

The lanolin sold as nipple cream for breastfeeding seemed more refined and pure to me. This one was a bit coarse in consistency.

Q: Could I add perfume oil to it and use it as a body moisturiser?

Well Rebecca, it does have a slight smell- butt then I think Lanolin always does. The smell was not all THAT strong. I haven't used other brands.
