This kit is great for binding journals!
I have a bunch of 3x7" "Envelope Notebooks" to bind, & this kit makes it easy to do!

Just a beginner
I loved that it had so many tools some I was familiar with and had used before. I was so glad that I get a chance to used them again. Price was right and recommend to it any beginner out there that’s just starting to learn book making or journaling.

A very good set except that two items are not as depicted in the photos
PROS: This set has all or most of the tools a “toe-dipper” would need for very basic bookbinding (such as for a junk journal). And they take up very little space — everything fits comfortably in a 5x7” photo case which is how I’m storing them for now (case is not included but I included my photo for reference).A few of the items are generic tools that most crafters already have on hand or can purchase fairly inexpensively. I mainly bought this kit for the tapered awl and the variety of neutral color “waxed” (see CONS below) thread, none of which I had on hand. The other tools, for me at least, we’re bonuses or things I didn’t particularly need since I already have them. It would likely cost me more if I had to buy all the supplies separately and the awl alone can be well over half the price of the set. So for the $8 price, there isn’t much to complain about — apart from the incorrect description…CONS: I would have preferred a larger bulb-like handle on the awl. I can’t find this kind of tapered needle on such a handle in my price range so I settled for this due to the thread also being in the set (and I was less than pleased with the thread). But the awl is as depicted so no points deducted for that, plus it fits better in my case. However…The closeup product photo of just the 8 spools of theard states that they are waxed. The ones I got are not waxed. In my photo you can see that the thread is fuzzy. It’s also very soft and pliable. All this contributes to tangles and knots and potential breakage from the added friction of sewing which is less of an issue with waxed thread. The threads seem to be thicker and stronger than typical garment thread so the potential for breakage may be lessened, but I have no doubt that tangles and knots will occur. This means I will have to manually wax the thread which also means adding a block of beeswax to my case and another step to my process, both of which I hoped to avoid. I deducted half a point for the misleading description rather than the actual quality of the thread. Also, the lacing awl shown in the set is a style with a needle eye, but the one I got has an open hook. I ordered this set for making junk journals so I may or may not use this tool, but if I did, I think it is more likely to tear at my paper than the simpler eye style that’s depicted. So if you’re hoping to get the version with the eye, be aware of this. I deducted another half point for the misleading photo rather than for the quality of the tool since it may be just fine for leatherwork. If I had paid much more for this set, I would’ve deducted at least one full point for each of the two incorrect depictions. A bargain price isn’t an excuse for misleading info.BOTTOMLINE: There are definitely 35 items in the set and most of them match the product photos. Despite my disappointment with the threads not being waxed, as stated, I’m satisfied enough with the rest of the set to keep it. At least the thread colors are in the neutral palette I wanted and they seem sturdy. And it’s a decent price for a compact starter set, especially if unwaxed thread and the hook awl aren’t an issue for you.

Great bookbinding kit
This is a great bookbinding kit. It comes with everything you could need and more and is so much quality for the price. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the thread because I prefer waxed thread, but it worked clvery well anyway. So if your looking for a great kit for a great price grab this one, it will be all you need to bind your books.
