Wonderful quality

Delighted with all of the tools.
I feel this is a quality set of tools. The planes are a lovely weight and size when in your hand for both male and female users. Only minor adjustments were needed before use. The T square is an ideal size, my previous one was a touch short. The case itself is very well made and adds to the quality of the tool set. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, it looks and feels much more expensive than it is and in my opinion is ideal for beginners or those more experienced.

I recommend it.
A solid set for an amateur carpenter like me. The planes needed tune up as the sole was not flat on either plane. Both planes and spoke-shave also and sharpening. After that, both course and very thin shavings are possible with little effort. Block plane makes good job on end grain. Marking tools are also fine and usable. Even the bag is sturdy. I am quite satisfied with the purchase. Some bad points:The craftsmanship of the tools is lacking somewhat. There are blemishes on the brass caps. Front of the moving part of the block plane is not aligned with the rest of the sole. Soles were not flat. The slide on the mortice gauge does not run very smooth...Verdict:For the price I give them 5 stars as none of the problems interfere with the use. The way I see it, two hours of work, tuning up, saved me a couple hundred. I am sure anyone who has any experience with metal tinkering would split that time in half.

Decent tools for the price
At this price it is obvious you aren't going to be buying the very best quality tools, however they are definitely very reasonable quality and with just a little bit of setting up excellent value. The sole of the Number 4 plane (the main tool I was interested in) was very far from flat but half an hour spent with some fine grade wet and dry paper and a steel straightedge resolved that problem. The blade was quite usably sharp, though the handle was a little bit loose and the screw was already as tight as it would go, so will need packing. With that 30 minutes of work though, the plane is quite pleasant to use and I'm quite satisfied with it.The block plane (the second reason for buying this set) looked very nicely made, but there was a fairly substantial nick out of the blade which will need ground out and sharpened. Once this is done I can't see any problems with this tool. The try square and marking knife are excellent; as with all the tools in this set they look lovely. The Marking / Mortice gauge works well enough, though the wooden handle is a little bit soft (meaning the setting screw leaves deeper indentations in it than I would like)The carry case seems pretty well made and is a nice way of keeping all the tools neatly together. In all, this is a very usable and very attractive looking set of tools for the price which, with a little bit of setting up, should see the hobbyist / DIY woodworker through quite a bit of use.

verry reasonable price to quality range
WORTH EVERY PENNY. not the same quality as some old peaces i have picked up from flee-markets but after a good sand, wire wool then a fine wax finish these turned out brilliantly. arrived on time. i dont use the bag but handy for other things

Great little set, love the weight
Great tool set, just passing through and needed something accurate with good weight, ticked all the boxes, I cant vouch for the blades yet because I've not given them a good workout, but so far so good, looking at other tools in the range too for when I need.

A mixed bag
I have been using these tools for a number of months now so I though it was time to share my thoughts. This is a nicely presented set comprising a selection of tools that I have found to be of variable quality. It may be appropriate as a gift for someone starting out but an intermediate or in-any-way experienced woodworker would, in my opinion, be better off buying individual items of better quality. The block plane is good and enjoyable to use once the time is taken to sharpen it properly. The No. 4 plane is mediocre in that the sole isn't perfectly flat, the mouth is oversized and it's difficult to get a good edge on the iron. The try square is almost square. The bevel and mortice gauge are fine. The marking knife isn't great with a soft blade of the single bevel type making the layout of complex joints more difficult. Faithful make a much better marking knife which is nicer to use and is excellent value. The spokeshave is by far the worst part of the set and I have found it impossible to get a keen edge on the blade. The blade seems to be so soft that my attempts to hone it have resulted in no more than rolling a burr from one side to the other. I plan to replace the blade but have bought a better spokeshave in the interim.

best tools you can buy for amazing price
Most amazing good value tool kit...my carpentry instructor didn't believe me when I told him the price. he said these are the best tools you can buy. Normally he said just two or three of these tools would be more than the £54 I paid for the full set.
