Big, beautiful, well made and fun.
I had previously seen the white version of this map and thought it was a great idea, so decided to buy one as a gift for my much travelled partner. It was only when I started to search online that I discovered this deluxe version, and ordered it.It arrived beautifully presented in a strong colourful tube (not folded as another reviewer received) rolled around tissue paper to protect the scratchable surface. It is fairly large, being about A1 sized, so make sure you have sufficient wall space for it. We put ours in a glassless frame with a hardboard back and are very happy with the appearance. This does not make it easy to scratch off areas around the perimeter, but it is worth the extra trouble. The black and gold colour scheme is very smart so it looks great and attracts attention. I am not convinced about the info graphics along the bottom of the map - they do include some fun items, but I think they detract a little from the overall look of the map. The map is printed on quite heavy duty card, so it takes a while before it stops trying to roll itself back up again. But the advantage of the heavy card is that you are not going to scratch through the printed surface beneath the gold covering.Deciding what to scratch may lead to some indecision. Does changing planes at Shanghai airport entitled you to scratch off China? For now we have just cleared off Shanghai with the idea that we will remove the rest if we ever go outside that city/airport.Overall I am very pleased and happy to recommend it to others

I really liked the look of this map and provided the person It was intended for loves to travel, loves maps and loves posters this made the excellent Christmas gift. The packaging looked class to start with -- both the box and the tube within it look great which is a big plus. I like the colours on the map and the tube encompassing the map had a beautiful design too. The only (minor) complaint I had is there was slight damage to the box it came in however given the prompt delivery especially during the Christmas period this was a minor set back .Ultimately this map made a great gift and the person receiving it was over the moon. It's definitely a product i'd consider purchasing for myself after seeing it.

Good concept, needs patience to scratch off well. I really like this item overall still.
Verdict: 4 1/2 starsPOSITIVE- It is a nice approach. I personally use it to scratch off the countries where I have lived and worked - and where I plan to live and work in the future. I don't need to see where I was in holidays. It's not a competion to see the whole Earth for me. But it gives me a visual feedback where I have lived and made real experiences over years and where I plan to live in the future. For my use I love it- It looks quality. It's in gold and black and where you scratch off in other colors- It comes nicely packed, good for a present. I just made a present to myself ;-)- Once the country is scratched off, the country name (or state name like in the US), the captial and other big cities becomes visible. Apart from countries that are so tiny that there is no space (like the country I was born in, Switzerland, which is sooo tiny it only shows an the letter 'S' as country name...NEGATIVE:- As other reviewers remarked, it is not super easy to scratch off exactly the countries. But possible. Don't use a coin if you want to be exact, but something better. For me a guitar plex worked well, other suggested the eraser tip of an eraser pen. But with some patience, it works nicely and gives a nice result- Personally I would prefer if there was no additional information below the Earth map (in my case mountain peaks, largest lakes etc.). But this is personal preference- It seems like for example in Europe all countries have the same color while scratched off. May be cheaper to produce, I would have preferred it a bit more colorful as in each country his own color.Summary:Nice map, cool idea. Bit difficult to scratch. I like it a lot still.

Absolutely love it
I'm absolutely in love with this! It's easy to find every country on the map, and the smaller countries are numbered for easier location. I've scratched off a few places I've travelled to, and it motivates me to travel more. The map is vibrant, durable, and adds character to my room. It’s also a great conversation starter. Overall, a fantastic investment for any travel enthusiast.

Beautiful map BUT be careful when ordering this product.
Be careful when ordering this product. Make sure the map is dispatched from UK otherwise you can get a cheap Chinese fake instead. I have bought two of these, one from Amazon (dispatched from UK) and the other one from MicroKingdom (Dispatched from somewhere in far Asia), that allowed to actually see the MASSIVE difference in quality of both products. Needles to say that original map (dispatched from UK) is a beautiful product with lots of details and high quality material where the fake is not worth a penny. It's an amazing gift idea and nice inspiration for further travel.I have attached photos comparing both of the maps and the tube, the fake one is always on the left on comparison photos. I also made a close up of a part of a map to show how crappy is the fake and how nice is the original one (you can see the terrain features, states in US etc).I did contact with the MicroKingdom asking for authenticity and was lied to: "Our products with the listing is the same, no problem. (...) We are honest seller and trying our best to provide best services to our customer". On their defence I was provided with refund option but I couldn't be bothered for couple quid.
